This course is a study of the field of psychology that examines, from a scientific viewpoint, the physical,
intellectual, emotional, and social dimensions of behavior.

This course is an exploration of topics related to self-understanding and self-improvement, drawing on social

psychology. The ethical principles of psychologists and research findings that provide a basis for the application of
psychology are also examined.

This course is an introduction to the neural behavior. Topics include: neuroanatomy, neuron function, the control of
hunger, sexual behavior, sleep, emotion, drug addiction, and memory. Prerequisite: PSY 100.
PSY 302 (3 sh) Psychology and Law Enforcement: F (even)
This course addresses the psychological issues related to such topics as ethics, professionalism, leadership,
interviewing witnesses and suspects, investigative techniques, the selection and evaluation of officers, responding to
critical incidents, modes of enforcement, and understanding mentally disturbed people. Prerequisite: PSY 100.

This course is a study of the psychological aspects of interviewing and profiling suspects, eye-witness testimony,
testifying in court, victim logy, dynamics of criminals, competence to stand trial, and jury dynamics. Prerequisite:
PSY 100.

This course is a study of controversial issues in psychology, for example, multiple personality disorder, the insanity
defense, assisted suicide, the death penalty, electroshock therapy, and attention deficit disorder. Prerequisite: PSY

This course focuses on a holistic approach to sexuality that addresses sexual development throughout the lifespan

This course is designed to introduce students to theory and research linking psychosocial factors to physical health
and well-being. In addition, this course will also explore health psychology in applied settings. Topics covered
include the mind-body relationship, stress and stress management, health behaviors, pain, and

This course is an overview of how human service workers assist children in a variety of settings. Emphasis is placed
on advocacy, supportive work, and short-term crisis intervention. Prerequisite: PSY 100.

This course is an introduction to the principles of learning and memory, including exploration of research and theory
pertaining to the acquisition, retention, retrieval, and forgetting of information. Prerequisite: PSY 100.

This course is a study of philosophical, scientific and clinical foundations of contemporary psychology.

PSY 460 (3 sh) Cognitive Psychology: S
This course is a general introduction to cognitive psychology. Emphasis is placed on theory and research in
information processing, memory, decision-making, language and the means by which cognitive psychology is
applied to our lives. Prerequisite: PSY 100.
PSY 464 (3 sh) Behavioral Neuroendocrinology: S (odd)
This course focuses on behavior generated by the interplay between hormones and the brain. Human and animal
research will be examined to explore how the endocrine and nervous systems interact to control functions such as
reproductive behaviors, aggression, and food intake. It will also examine how the brain modifies hormone levels to
cope with changing environmental conditions and stress. Prerequisites: PSY 100, 260.
PSY 471a (3 sh) Clinical Internship: F/S
This course involves field experiences in human service or research facilities, under the joint supervision of site
supervisors and psychology faculty. Requires 128 hours of service during the semester May be repeated for up to
nine semester hours Prerequisites: PSY 420, 476A and permission of instructor.

This course is designed for advanced students to assist on research projects that are conducted in regular
consultation with the faculty member. It may be repeated to a maximum of 12 credits. Prerequisites: PSY 100 ,303,
304 psychology major with a minimum GPA of 3.0 in psychology courses, and a signed contract between student
and faculty member prior to enrollment in the course.

This course is an introduction to the professional and legal aspects of internships, as well as issues related to
counseling: ethics, dynamics of counselors and clients, stages of counseling, diversity, crisis intervention.

Research Methods: F
This course is a preparatory section for students whom intend to participate in a Research Internship in Psychology.
It is designed to familiarize the student with the ethical requirements of good research and to refine their
understanding of research methods and statistical analysis. Prerequisites: PSY 100, 303, 304.

This course is designed to help students conduct, analyze, write-up, and present their own research in their area of
interest in psychology. Prerequisites: PSY 100, 303, 304, and 476B.

This course is a tutorial that covers a wide range of topics that the student researches, discusses, and puts into a
