FOR STAFF & FACULTY:
- Please support the Freshman Class by buying a Kassandra’s lunch plate for Wednesday, December 19th. The menu is
red rice, BBQ chicken, and adobo. The price is $7.00 a plate, $7.50 with bottled water. Place your order via email to
advisors or through any of the class officers, Jeanie Nguyen, Adam Pangelinan, Gian Paras, Scot Canlas, and Kimberly
Guiang. Thank you for your support.- Mrs. Guzman, Mrs. Pillow, and Ms. Sabangan.
- Reminder: Teachers, the SPED compliance meeting will be held this Tuesday and Wednesday. Attend during
your prep period.
- Please take the time to review our school emergency response plan with our students.
FOR EVERYONE:
- Lock out will commence this week. Students must report to class on time. Students in the halls must have
corridor passes. Non-compliance will result in disciplinary action.
- Shibasaki Sensei’s second article is a book review of Dr. Inoue-Smith’s tanka collection “A Shall of Mist/ Tanka:
Expressing the Modern Soul in an Ancient Poetic Style” (2012). University of America, Inc. ISBN: 978-0-7618-5905-5.
Copies of the article are available in room 108.
- Due to the change of festivities for Shark Shake Up, GAMA has cancelled the teacher karaoke contest. The
money collected will be returned. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask any club officers or Mrs.
Unten.
- The ESL English/Social Studies classes are holding a SHARKS CANNED FOOD DRIVE from December 5-20. All goods
collected are going to The Salvation Army to assist those in need. Drop boxes are in rooms 213 &216 and select
English/Social studies classes. Thank you for your support!
- Are you a Proud Shark who would like to Leave a Mark for your school and wear the crown to represent the whole Shark
Family? Then come on down and run for the Mr. and Ms. SSHS Pageant. This will give you a chance to shine and
represent the school with pride and win cash prizes, trophies, gift certificates, bragging rights for the whole school year and
more! Different categories include Question & Answer, Best Costumes, Best Talent, Best Personality, Best Runway walk,
Solicited the Most, and more! Sign up with Mr. Medina at the Barn, Mrs. Yooky Shin, or any of our Glee Club Officers and
Members.
- SSHS-UB session will be held this Wednesday, Dec. 19.
- Mock Trial is having practices every Tuesday and Thursday after school in rm 209. During the Christmas break, our
practices will be on Wednesday, 12/26/12, Thursday, 12/27/12, Friday, 12/28/12; Wednesday, 1/2/13, Thursday, 1/3/13,
Friday, 1/4/13. Practices begin at 10 a.m. and end at 2 p.m.
- Students interested in applying for the National Honor Society: Application deadlines are fast approaching! If you need an
application form, don’t hesitate to ask an NHS member or email Liana De Soto (liana-desoto@hotmail.com) or Marc
Gombio (marc_03995@hotmail.com).
- Must have a GPA of at least 90% or above.
- Only Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors are able to apply, but Freshmen are welcome to participate in our
events to help back up their future applications.
- Must not have any history of referrals/suspensions or have been given a “U” for citizenship.
- Interested in trying out for this year’s Boys’ Volleyball team or next year’s Girls’ Volleyball team? Please see Giselle Kho
or Kae’Ana Camacho to sign up or to get more information.
- Any 10th and 11th grade student, 16 years or older, interested in working under the Agency for Human Resource
Development (AHRD) program, see Ms. Taitano (the new Mrs. Lujan) in the Counseling office.
- Attention Sharks: Due to the activities (or lack of), the math lab is open only for computer usage. Please note that
computers are to be used for educational purposes only. There will be no lunchtime tutoring provide by GAMA. If you have
any questions, please see Mrs. Unten in room 202.
- The Freshman Class needs advisors! Any teachers who are interested in advising the class of 2016, see Mr. LG or Mrs.

- If you are going to buy a used phone from any SSHS student, or if you feel something is amiss with the phone you are about to

about to purchase is listed there as "stolen."
- All clubs and organizations must schedule a MANDATORY Non-Appropriated Funds meeting with Mrs. Duenas ASAP. Advisors and
club Treasurers/representatives must be present.
Student Support:
- Attention UOG / ETS students: ETS sessions are held every Wednesday during lunch in Room 402. Sessions are
conducted by grade level, however, any ETS student is welcome to stop by any available session. Please refer to your
ETS calendars or see Mrs. Camacho in the Main Office for more information.
- Attention ALL STUDENTS: The University of Guam / Educational Talent Search is accepting applications for those

- UOG Upward Bound is still accepting applications for their waiting list. If interested, please visit www.uog.edu and look
under Professional and Community Programs for TRIO Programs and click on Upward Bound. You may also see Mrs.

- Students, please submit your Locker Registration Forms before claiming lockers. Locks found on unregistered lockers
will be cut.
- Students must register their cell phones (no fee/charge). Ask your homeroom teachers for forms and return the
completed forms to that teacher.
- Parking Pass applications will only be entertained from students who have recently earned their licenses or acquired new
vehicles. For students’ who have already submitted their applications, please pick up your parking passes. Unauthorized
vehicles found in the parking lot will be towed at the owner’s expense. (Last year’s cost was $150.00)
- The next SAT Test registration deadline is fast approaching! See Ms. Taitano in Counseling or simonsanchez.org for
more information and fee waivers.
- There is another UOG Placement Test scheduled for January 12th for high school seniors who are applying
late. As long as all required documents are submitted prior to the January 12th testing date, students still
have the opportunity to enroll for Spring 2013. Interested persons may apply online at the UOG website
http://www.uog.edu under the Admissions tab or pick up an application form from Mrs. Ramos in the SSHS
Counseling Office. A hard copy application must be submitted with payment of $49.00.
Sales & Events:
- Our official date for our Shark’s day at the Micronesia Mall is now on Saturday, March 16, 2013, from 10:00 am to 4:00
pm. Due to limited space, Sign up NOW to be included in our Performance, Program and Showcase. Let us bring the
Shark family together and work as a TEAM and represent our school in the best way that we possibly can. Along with our
talented students, we would like to get representation from ALL our Departments to take part in this PRIDE (Fine Arts,
ROTC, Electives, P.E., English, Language Arts, Math, Social Studies, Science, ESL, Counseling, World Studies, Health,
GCC, Foreign Languages, SPED, and even our Admin and our school support system).
Please sign up with Mr. Medina at the Barn and provide the following information:
-Group/Department/Club name
-Type of Activity (Booth/Entertainment/Event)
-Minutes of performance (time frame will be a discretion of the organizer)
-Number of participants in your group
-Materials needed from the Mall (outlet, sound system, stage, tables and chairs)

- The SSHS Glee Club will be sponsoring the Mr. and Ms. SSHS Pageant this year. If you’re interested. sign up with me at
the Barn or with Mrs. Yooky Shin. Thank you Ms. Espiritu for having us host this year. – Mr. Medina
- SYM After school workshops will be on Wednesdays from 3:30pm-5:00pm in room 231.
- Calling those who signed up for the SSHS Dance Team during the club fair, we have meetings every Monday @ the barn first half of
lunch. Thank you for your support!
Meetings:
- Faith Bible Club will meet on Friday, Dec. 21, at lunch time in room 203.
- Attention all clubs and organizations: MANDATORY SBA meetings are being held EVERY Tuesday in Room 206/207, 1 st half of
lunch, unless announced otherwise. Please be advised that three absences will result in being unchartered. Please see any SBA
advisor or officer regarding any questions or concerns. - SBA
- Freshmen Class meeting change: Meetings will no longer be on Thursdays and Fridays. They will be held weekly every Wednesday
during the first half of lunch in Room 106 A.
- Close Up meetings are every Thursday, 2nd half of lunch, room 228. – Mr. Escalona
- SSHS Math Club GAMA meetings are on Mondays, 2nd half of Lunch.
- Ceramics & Jewelry Club meetings will be held during the 2nd half of lunch every Friday in room 109. All are welcome!
- World Studies Club meetings are held every Friday during the first half of lunch in room 221.
- Junior class meetings are on Wednesdays in room 203 during lunch. Support your class of 2014.
- SBA Meetings will be held every Tuesday during the first half of Lunch. At least one club representative is expected to attend these
mandatory meetings.
- The nursing club will be having meetings every Wednesday during the first half of lunch. All students are welcome!
