She advises leading enterprises on emerging technology, societal and business trends, and on emerging technology management issues. 10:0011:00 What are the 'next big things' that will hit the headlines and the airline magazines? Which of these will actually provide the most value in education, and which can wait until costs fall and risks are lower? Emerging Trends Radar Screen Gartner's Emerging Trends Radar Screen will present the major disruptive technologies of the next decade and provide case studies of early adopters and high-impact applications. We will also show how organizations can create their own radar screens via best practices in managing the emerging technology adoption process. KEYNOTE SESSION 2: Jay Wright, Coach, VU Men's Basketball Jay Wright, has in eight seasons as head coach of the Villanova University basketball team, placed his own imprint of success and achievement on Wildcat basketball. Coach Wright has been in great demand as a motivational speaker at a wide diversity of conferences, expositions, corporations and universities. 12:001:00 Attitude of a Champion We are honored to have Coach Wright as a keynote speaker to discuss his style and approach to leadership and motivation. The methods and techniques that Coach Wright utilizes, and will talk about upon during his presentation, are both functional and practical for applying to executive, administrative and managerial positions, in the field of education, as well as in the corporate world. KEYNOTE SESSION 3: Gary S. Stager, Ph.D, Executive Director: The Constructivist Consortium and Visiting Professor: Pepperdine University (USA) Gary S. Stager is an internationally recognized educator, speaker, journalist and consultant. He led professional development in the world's first laptop schools (1990), has designed online graduate school programs since the mid-90s, is a collaborator in the MIT Media Lab's Future of Learning Group and a member of the One Laptop Per Child Foundation's Learning Team. 2:00-3:00 Ten Things to Do with a “Laptop” Learning and Powerful Ideas expo.villanova.edu In 1999, Converge Magazine named Gary a "shaper of our future and inventor of our destiny." The National School Boards Association recognized Dr. Stager with the distinction of "20 Leaders to Watch" in 2007. He is a Visiting Professor at Pepperdine University. Gary leads his own annual professional learning institute, Constructing Modern Knowledge, in the United States. This presentation promotes sustainable school innovation via lessons learned over 19 years of working in "laptop schools." Much of the skepticism about 1:1 computing is based on the meager or unimaginative objectives of 1:1 schools. The educational case for truly personal computing will be made through entertaining vignettes and video-based case studies of best practices collected from schools internationally.
