Smile Club Summer School 2012
This year's theme is "Countries of the World". 2012 is the year of the London Olympic Games! Knowing and
understanding the countries around us is the key to world peace. We will learn different cultures by experiencing
their arts, traditions and by tasting their foods. Why do the Olympic Games exist? How did it start and what does
this event really mean? Let’s take a look at the events and medals of the Olympic Games. Let’s learn about the
history and science of the world and get a better understanding of how each country has contributed to the
making of a better world. You will also learn exciting new vocabulary while having fun discovering the British
theater and famous rock stars of the Olympic host country. Enjoy the experience of slipping back in time to a
foreign country! Please sign up and choose the course of your liking.

1 Year to 16 years of age
Participating children will be divided into different classes depending on their levels. Levels (L1), (L2) and higher
will be decided by the amount of English knowledge known by the student and in some cases the age of the
students.

Purpose and activities
In A course, students will learn by raising their knowledge and
understanding of different cultures.
Raising curiosity - By knowing traditional clothing and cuisines,
they can feel closer to various different countries. The upper
grades will learn different life styles of people, geography, about
terrain, looking at history and world heritage. It’s time to discover
the wonders of the world!
L1) Get to know the tradition of the world, try out sweets and
ethnic costumes! Let's make delicious sweets and become
chefs!
L2) Let's make a map of the world and study the ground and
history of the country of interest.
Let's examine management, world heritage and culture!
B course
Olympic
7/30-8/3
In B course, kids will actually experience the Olympic Games.
Why do the Olympic Games exist? How did it start and what
does this event really mean? The older students will explore
sports, competition, and the strengths of each country.
Sport’s Week helps to increase world knowledge. Competing in
games to win medals is both a healthy activity and fun!
Let's experience the actual performances and take the oaths!
After choosing the competing teams, we can experience the
Olympic Games!

C course
The world’s art
8/6-8/10
Let’s take up the challenge and learn the lyrics to a well known
English song. We can then create a band to sing, dance and
perform in. Let's pose for a professional photo.
C course is about creativity, nurturing feelings and emotions to
enrich the work of a unique mind.
Listening to classical music in a relaxed mood will give the
students the chance to express their feelings in art and painting.
L1) Let’s create an original instrument. Then use it to become a
rock musician and dancer!
L2) Let's learn about rock stars and classic music of the world!
We will allow the children to express themselves in the world of
art.
D course
D course is full of surprises, deliciousness and fun experiments!

E-course, Let’s challenge screenplay, the acting of an English
World Cinema
drama!

How can I co-produce all of the classes in an original film?
Learn new vocabulary and expressive power used in the making
of a fun and original English drama. Learn the nuances of
speech and use different accents in the creation of a unique
show. We will use actual conversations by native speakers
cannot be found in a textbook. Here is a chance to take
conversation to the next level. Students will act out their roles
using both costumes and props.
Each student will get to take a copy of their performance home
on DVD.
＜How to apply＞ Students wishing to join our program can apply from the following dates:

non-Smile Students: from 14th Monday

★Summer Time Intensive Private ESL Lesson!
Summer vacation is a chance of leaping forward! Special programs during the summer are ideal for
giving your child more skills and bringing their levels up.
We will check each child’s English level in detail. Then we will have meetings about your child’s
strengths and weaknesses, as well as discuss goals with parents before lessons.
Date：During the summer school we can arrange special ESL lessons according to requests.
