V. Detailed introduction on Khoam Bang
multi-metal mine area
- Khoam Bang Mountain is a part of the 700-1000m-wide and
7000m-long strip of ultramafic-magma rocks containing multimetal ores (Cu, Ni, Co, Au, etc.). This strip is arc-shaped and
surrounds the 518m- mountain peak.
- Khoam Bang Mountain can be considered as a multi-metal
laterite mine with the main metals: Cu, Ni, and Fe. In addition, Cr,
W, Au, and Co are also the accompanying elements. The amount
of ore is high and the mining conditions are convenient because
the mine is completely open-cast.
- Khoam Bang mine covers an area of 25ha, of which 5.3 ha is
the top of the mountain
- Khoam Bang mine comprises 2 types of ore:
+ Type 1: ore in the bedrocks below the weathered zone
+ Type 2: ore in the weathered zone
- Khoam Bang mine is bordered by altered diorite masses

The explored area and implemented works in the Khoam Bang multi-metal mine
3. Element concentrations in the weathered zone
- In Khoam Bang mine, 27 digging holes (the shallowest is 8m
and the deepest is 15m deep) were carried out.
- Number of boreholes: 8 (the shallowest is 54m and the deepest
is 132m deep)
- Number of lines for soil sampling: 8
