Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come, our will be done on earth as in heaven.

Do you have a heart for Justice? Get informed about Child-poverty in
Canada. The United Church Women are supporting a nation-wide campaign
drawing attention to child-poverty, called "Bread Not Stones." If you are
interested in bringing this campaign to HSUC speak to Kate.
Foodbank Sunday, Oct 4: Thanks for the non- perishable food which is taken
to the Blessings Food Bank in Zurich and the Ailsa Craig Food and Thrift Store
in Ailsa Craig. Local people use it
continually. If money is easier, please don't put it in the box with the
food. Make a cheque out to HSUC - Food Bank and put it on the offering
plate. If cash, mark the envelope "Food Bank". Money enables the Food
Bank to purchase needed food and cheaply. Money given is added to your tax
receipt.
Refugee Sponsorship We have all been horrified to see the unfolding refugee
crisis in Europe, and some are asking about how HSUC can help. The Mission
and Outreach Team is prepared to look into sponsoring a refugee. If you are
interested, please sign the sheet in the sanctuary, "I have a heart for Refugee
Sponsorship." This process can take a long while. In the meantime, please
consider donating to a charity which is making a difference, like the ongoing
Syria Refugee Appeal of the United Church of Canada, which has been
supporting our partners on the ground for over 2 years. www.unitedchurch.ca. Lastly, we are aware that Lakeshore United Church in Goderich has
begun the process of becoming a refugee sponsoring congregation. We can
choose to support their initiative.
