ANNUAL CONFERENCE CALL FOR PRESENTATIONS 5th Annual Richmond SHRM Strategic Leadership Conference Greater Richmond Convention Center October 8, 2015 DEADLINE FOR SPEAKER SUBMISSIONS IS APRIL 25, 2015 About the Conference: This year’s theme, The HR Walk of Fame. Strategic Roles of HR covers a broad spectrum; we hope to attract senior HR professionals as well as generalists who can gain pertinent insight into these topics as they relate to HR. Others will benefit from your experience while you make a contribution to the profession’s field of knowledge. All presentations that are selected for the Conference must qualify for either SHRM credits or Business Management credits by the Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI). We have included information on the SHRM / HRCI body of knowledge and Business Management credits at the bottom of this document. Target Audience: The audience will range from entry-level to the most seasoned HR professionals. We anticipate 250 to 300 attendees. Schedule note: The afternoon sessions may require presenters to conduct two sessions back-to-back with a 30-minute break in between, enabling more choices for conference attendees. Notification on the status of submissions will be e-mailed no later than May 8, 2015. A Note Concerning Honoraria: Richmond SHRM has a tradition of using educational conference sessions as a platform for innovation in the field of HR management. We look for contributors who are willing to share their expertise without expectation of a large payment in the spirit of networking, a purpose for which the Society was founded. Please note that speakers receive complimentary conference attendance and meals. Requests for transportation reimbursement will be considered on an individual basis. Programming: Educational programs will be based upon the framework of the SHRM body of knowledge and will reflect major socio-economic trends shaping the workplace within the next 3-5 years. Practical Application: Sessions that include practical and immediately applicable, specific tools will be given preference. The conference committee seeks presentations that will help attendees improve their effectiveness on the job. Proven Speaker Ability: The conference committee seeks experienced professional presenters with proven speaking ability. Those with a successful track record of speaking and training at large conferences or other public speaking forums will be given preference. Proof of Performance: Performance evaluations from previous speaking engagements or HR references are required. Evaluations that show your quality ratings and scores from previous speaking engagements. References from HR professionals who have seen you present. Honor our commitment to educate, not promote products or services. Not add a co-presenter or change the identity or number of presenters without permission from the conference committee. Those topics focus on business disciplines OUTSIDE of the traditional human resources function. Examples would include Finance for the NonFinancial Manager, Budgeting, Marketing Strategies, Technology Developments, Business Analytics. Developing, contributing to, and supporting the organization’s mission, vision, values, strategic goals and objectives; formulating policies; guiding and leading the change process; and evaluating organizational effectiveness as an organizational leader.
