Operations Management discipline is of multiple subjects including: inventory management, materials requirement planning, waiting line management, quality management, work measurements, and other areas. This course equips non-operations major students with the fundamental principles and concepts of this discipline. Yet, the course content is driven to cater to the needs and interests of this segment of students who are majoring in marketing, or Finance or accounting within this MBA program.
The objectives of the course include:
Providing the students with a wide exposure to principles, concepts and theories within a selected number of subjects (see course content) of operations management
Familiarizing students with various analytical and quantitative methods and models
Providing emphasis on the special characteristics and needs of service operations
Student should be able by the end of this course to:
Demonstrate understanding of the systems perspective as a platform for operations management
Demonstrate understanding of various concepts and principles of operations
Be familiar with the special nature of service operations
Use and apply various operations quantitative, and planning/controlling tools to actual situations in manufacturing and/or service operations
