November 1- Discussion of the short story "Good Country People." Quiz on the story.
November 4 Begin a cause and effect essay. Students will write the essay in-class using the same format as they
have used in the previous essays.
November 5- Continue to work on cause and effect essay.
November 6- Continue to work on cause and effect essay.
November 7- Cause and effect essay is due. Students will turn in a title page, outline, and five paragraph MLA style
essay. The essay will use the short stories "I Stand Here Ironing" and "A Good Man Is Hard to Find."
November 8- Work on Research Essays
November 11- Veteran’s Day Holiday
November 12- Essay One-On-One. Meet with students individually to discuss their comparison and contrast
essays. Students will then have an opportunity to make corrections to their essays.
November 13- Read and discuss a letter written by the explorer Christopher Columbus. The Letter of Columbus to

semester to write their final English 101 essay. Essay one-on-one.

December 12- Final essay is due. Students will turn in a title page, outline, and five paragraph MLA style essay.
December 13- Begin reviewing for multiple choice test.
December 16- Essay One-on-One.
December 17-20- Semester exams for the first semester.
