Mondays-Fortune Telling
• Today you will make predictions or inferences about
what you think will happen next in your story (you
MUST include textual evidence to support your
prediction).
• You will also write an opinion statement and a
question you have about the story.
• Prediction 1: Since Dylan threw out all of Wallace’s
stuff & he is mad at his sister because Wallace is still in
detention, I predict that Dylan is the one who is
sabotaging the play.
• Opinion 1: In my opinion, Trudi is too concerned about
what other people think of her.
• Question 1: I wonder if Mr. Fogelman will kick Wallace
out of the play.
Tuesdays=Summarizing
• Today you will write a summary of what
happened in your book today. A good
summary will provide me with character
names, a description of events, and at least
one quote from the book.
• Your summary must be at least 60 words.
• Today we read chapters 2 & 3. Wallace went
to detention and caused a lot of trouble.
Rachel wasn’t happy that he was there. One
of my favorite parts is when Trudi said, “…….”.
Wednesdays = Map Making
• Today you will make a Thinking Map & Frame
of Reference covering something important
from the chapters. (Thinking map cheat sheet
is on back of binders)
• -It could have something to do with a
character, the plot or the setting.

Thursdays = Drawing
• Today you will draw an image to represent
something in your text.
– It could be a character, the setting, an event, a
scene, etc.
• OR: You could come up with a symbol to
represent the chapter as well as a clear
explanation on why you think that symbol
represents the entire chapter.
I chose to draw a picture of a detention slip
to represent Wallace’s detention in drama
practice.
Fridays = Word Wizard
• Today you will find impressive words from
your reading. Look for unknown words, fancy
words, etc. Make a list of at least 10, THEN…
• Create a 4 square for at least 2 words.
(Synonyms, What I think it means, What it
actually means, & A sentence from the book
that uses the word).
