(Knowledge 5 points). 1.Kate Fitzgerald __3__a. selfish, only wants publicity for himself 2.Anna Fitzgerald __1__b. Dying of Leukemia 3.Campbell Alexander _ 5_c. the troublemaker of the family 4. Sara Fitzgerald __4__d. strong, doing the best she can 5.Jesse Fitzgerald __2__ e. sues her parent for the rights to her own body 1. Describe Campbell's and Julia's relationship after they broke up all those years ago. How do they both feel about each other? (Comprehension 2 points). Campbell and Julia still obviously like each other, they are just scared to admit their feelings. Julia is just scared to get hurt again and Campbell is too scared for people to find out why he needs a service dog, and he wants to seem "tough" and kind of like a "tool". 2. Now, describe Anna Fitzgerald's relationship with Sara Fitzgerald. How do they act towards each other during the lawsuit? How do they act before the lawsuit? (Comprehension 2 points). Sara never really paid too much attention to Anna, but some. During the lawsuit Sara seemed really disappointed in Anna but still loved her. I think the lawsuit brought them closer together. 3. Translate this poem out of the book. What do you think the author of the poem is talking about? How does it relate to My Sisters Keeper? Be specific! (Application 3 points). "One fire burns out another's burning, one pain is lessened by another's anguish." -William Shakespeare I think the author is talking about when there is one problem there is always going to be another one, it's kind of never ending. It relates to the book because after Kate gets rid of the Leukemia for now, it always come back. Or when Anna donates something alittle later she has to donate again. 4. Again, Translate this poem out of the book. What do you think the author of the poem is talking about? How does it relate to My Sisters Keeper? Be specific! (Application 3 points). "There is no fire without some smoke." -John Heywood I think the author is talking about when there is a problem there will always be an outcome. It relates to the book because when Anna files a lawsuit she has to go through with it. 5. Drawing a Venn Diagram compare and contrast the characters Anna Fitzgerald and Campbell Alexander. (Analysis 4 points). Anna Both Campbell Been through a lot Hard-headed selfish Wants to help Kate Can't think what they want Has a dog for a disability Very intelligent mature 6. Debate a Controversial topic in My Sisters Keeper. How do you feel about the topic? (Analysis 4 points). One controversial topic in the book, is stem cell research. I feel it could help a lot of people and could do some good. I really this it is a good thing. 7. Using your knowledge of the book, predict the outcome of Campbell's and Julia's relationship. Will they stay together? Use detailed support for your answer. (Evaluation 5 points). I think Campbell and Julia will stay together, but I also think their relationship will be pretty rocky considering their past and how Campbell is to stubborn and Julia make assumptions things too quick without even talking to Campbell or seeing what really happened. 8. Predict the future of each character after Anna's death and after the book ends. Use your knowledge of the book!! (evaluation 5 points). I think Kate will be in some soap opera because she loved watching them. I think Jesse (like it said) will become and cop and have a nice family, I think Sara and Brian will still be depressed and sad because what has all happened, but they still will get through it. For Campbell and Julia I think they will be married but have no kids because they just don't seem like the parenting type. In the book Julia said she didn't even like kids. 9. Criticize a part of the novel you do not agree with or do not like. Make sure to provide detailed support of why you do not agree. (Analysis 4 points). I really did not like the end of the novel. I didn't like how Anna died. I thought it was cool Kate lived and all, but I really didn't learn too much about Kate's character. I learned a lot about Anna's and I really liked her. 10. Identify the antagonists and the protagonists of the novel. Explain your reasoning.(Comprehension 2 points). I personally think the antagonist is Sara, because she opposes what Kate and Anna want. Brian is also kind of the antagonist. Anna is obviously the protagonists because she is the main character. Essay Questions: 11. If you could change the end of the My Sisters Keeper, how would you? What would you keep the same? (MAKE SURE THE ENDING FITS WITH THE REST OF THE BOOK) (Synthesis 6 points). If I could change the end to My sisters keeper I would have Anna deciding she really does want to donate to Kate and she does. Than Kate gets the kidney and lives a normal healthy life without leukemia and Anna lives also. I would keep the part about Anna winning the case because it would put a twist in the story when she decides she does want to donate to Kate to save her. 12. Organize a list of events that happen in the novel. Make sure to list them in order ( like a time line!) Have at least 10 events. (Synthesis 6 points) 1. Kate is diagnosed with Leukemia 2. Anna is genetically conceived to donate cord blood to Kate to save her life 3. Kate goes back into relapse and needs Anna to donate bone marrow 4. Kate needs stem cells 5. Kate's kidney fails and needs Anna to donate a new one 6. Anna goes to Campbell Alexander to sue her parents for rights to her own body 7. Anna wins the case and gains rights to her own body 8. Anna gets into a car accident on her way over to the hospital with Campbell 9. Anna dies because she is brain dead 10. Kate receives Anna's kidney and lives
