Where is the Love

advertisement
What's wrong with the world, mama
People livin' like they ain't got no mamas
I think the whole world addicted to the drama
Only attracted to things that'll bring you
trauma
Overseas, yeah, we try to stop terrorism
But we still got terrorists here livin'
In the USA, the big CIA
The Bloods and The Crips and the KKK
But if you only have love for your own race
Then you only leave space to discriminate
And to discriminate only generates hate
And when you hate then you're bound to get irate,
yeah
Madness is what you demonstrate
And that's exactly how anger works and operates
Man, you gotta have love just to set it straight
Take control of your mind and meditate
Let your soul gravitate to the love, y'all, y'all
People killin', people dyin'
Children hurt and you hear them cryin'
Can you practice what you preach
And would you turn the other cheek
Father, Father, Father help us
Send us some guidance from above
'Cause people got me, got me
questionin'
Where is the love (Love)
Where is the love (The love)
Where is the love (The love)
Where is the love
The love, the love
It just ain't the same, always unchanged
New days are strange, is the world insane
If love and peace is so strong
Why are there pieces of love that don't belong
Nations droppin' bombs
Chemical gasses fillin' lungs of little ones
With ongoin' sufferin' as the youth die young
So ask yourself is the lovin' really gone
So I could ask myself really what is goin' wrong
In this world that we livin' in people keep on givin'
Makin' wrong decisions, only visions of them dividends
Not respectin' each other, deny thy brother
A war is goin' on but the reason's undercover
The truth is kept secret, it's swept under the rug
If you never know truth then you never know love
Where's the love, y'all, come on (I don't know)
Where's the truth, y'all, come on (I don't know)
Where's the love, y'all
People killin', people dyin'
Children hurt and you hear them cryin'
Can you practice what you preach
And would you turn the other cheek
Father, Father, Father help us
Send us some guidance from above
'Cause people got me, got me
questionin'
Where is the love (Love)
Where is the love (The love)
Where is the love (The love)
Where is the love
The love, the love
I feel the weight of the world on my shoulder
As I'm gettin' older, y'all, people gets colder
Most of us only care about money makin'
Selfishness got us followin' our wrong direction
Wrong information always shown by the media
Negative images is the main criteria
Infecting the young minds faster than bacteria
Kids wanna act like what they see in the cinema
Yo', whatever happened to the values of humanity
Whatever happened to the fairness in equality
Instead in spreading love we spreading animosity
Lack of understanding, leading lives away from
unity
That's the reason why sometimes I'm feelin' under
That's the reason why sometimes I'm feelin' down
There's no wonder why sometimes I'm feelin' under
Gotta keep my faith alive till love is found
People killin', people dyin'
Children hurt and you hear them cryin'
Can you practice what you preach
And would you turn the other cheek
Father, Father, Father help us
Send us some guidance from above
'Cause people got me, got me questionin'
Where is the love (Love)
Where is the love (The love)
Where is the love (The love)
Where is the love (The love)
Where is the love (The love)
Where is the love (The love)
Where is the love (The love)

In 1989, Will.i.am. and apl.de.ap. met in Los
Angeles as eighth-graders. They performed
with a break-dancing group, called Tribal
Nation. They both developed an interest in
creating hip-hop music, as well as dancing
to it. In high school, the two singers and
dancers began a duet, calling themselves
Atban, a tribe beyond a nation. In 1992,
will.i.am and apl.de.ap signed a record
contract with Ruthless Records. They quickly
made an entire album for Ruthless, but it
was never published. Taboo, their third
member, was introduced to the group. They met at Ballistics, a Los Angeles
break-dancing club. The three members renamed themselves, The Black
Eyed Peas. They signed a major label contract in 1997. After signing the
contract, Kim Hill became a back-up singer, but she was replaced by Fergie
in 2001. In 2003, The Black Eyed Peas released their third full-length album,
Elephunk. In this album, “Where is the Love,” became the number one hit.
Back to Last Slide
The Black Eyed
Peas are referring
to two gangs. One
gang is located in
the Northeastern
part of the United
States. The KKK
refers to the Ku Klux
Klan hate group.
Back to Lyrics
Children around
the world are
asking their
parents why
people have
been acting
poorly. This is
directed towards
drugs, terrorism,
war, and even
more and more
people being put
in jail.
Back to Lyrics
People are
complaining that the
government is spending
too much time in other
countries. They are
fighting wars and
helping other countries
with poverty, while
many places in the
United States are
struggling to stay alive.
Back to Lyrics
In this verse,
‘terrorists’ are
seen as gangs,
mobs or the
mafia in the
United States
point of view.
They are not
meant to be
actual terrorists.
Back to Lyrics
A citizen is complaining that the public needs to
have more love for everyone and everything.
Back to Lyrics
This verse refers to
the government
invading different
countries and
killing many
people, resulting
in hurting their
population.
Back to Lyrics
The public is asking
George W. Bush, the
43rd president of the
United States, if he
wants to stop war and
if he wants people to
share all things, then he
should do so himself.
Back to Lyrics
In this verse,
someone is
begging
god to help
reach world
peace.
Back to Lyrics
This represents elders
remembering the
“old days” when
they were young
and how different
things are today. In
the next line, ‘new
days are strange, is
the world insane,’
the elders are
backing up that the
world has changed.
Back to Lyrics
The next three
verses are
explaining what
war can create.
It is saying that
small children
are dying
because of
bombs, gases,
and poverty.
Back to Lyrics
As older people,
that used to see
world peace,
become older,
the world
becomes
hungrier,
greedier, and
become more
selfish.
Back to Lyrics
This is
significant
because
people
are
choosing
to have no
feelings for
others.
Back to Lyrics
These two lines are
talking about the role
of the media. They
point out the bad
things, instead of
good
accomplishments.
They are trying to
achieve higher
ratings. This also
encourages children
to act in certain
ways.
Back to Lyrics
These lines refer to
homelessness and
why some people
are not receiving
help or having
their values and
rights respected.
Back to Lyrics
People are being small-minded and racist because
they are not educated in certain cultures.
Back to Lyrics
The Crips is a street gang that formed in Los
Angeles, California in the late 1960’s. They
began around school campuses, creating
violence. To show that they are in The Crips,
they wear a blue rag or handkerchief. Many of
them wear jogging suits and tennis shoes.
