4. Coordinators Report
4.1 Tiered System

Feedback sought on the tiered system that was introduced in 2014, Recording
sheet was circulated to confirm accuracy
4.2 RACWA Sponsorship

Thank you to the RAC for their generous sponsorship of the Breakfast meeting,
the Speech and Debating trophies, awards and presentations, the Elephant in
the Wheatbelt and the “chill out zone” and the Water Bottles.
4.3 BSteetsmart 2016

BStreetsmart will be held again in 2016, feedback from the 2014 event will be
considered during planning in 2016.
 Wayne Houden thanked SSWA and the teachers involved for their support in
assisting with promoting the Road Safety Message.

1. Shirley Reynolds – stressed the importance of debriefing the students
following the event.

AFL
 Girls AFL games to change to 2 x 20 minute halves
 Have a second perimeter line, or a designated area for spectators.
 Disputed score – instruct coaches to also keep score and ensure the
scorecards are signed off at the completion of the game by the team coaches
 Increase in spear tackling, issue to be raised at the umpires meeting
Basketball
 No issues from the Coordinator
 Denmark proposed that a combined team be selected from the A Division Girls
and Boys to compete in a game against the SSWA and ACC
Football
 Proposal from the coordinator for the scoresheet to include details of Red and
Yellow cards issued.
CARRIED
Dance
 Change of venue for the final day has created some logistical issues
 Getting to and from the venue for the Opening and Closing Ceremonies is
difficult
Hockey
 Change in fixture for the Friday games was highlighted and will be published on
the website
 B Grade Boys Hockey being located at Shenton College, request to rotate the
divisions when they are offsite.
Netball
 No issues from the coordinator
 Court surface slippery, follow up with the venue
 Scoreboards not used from Tuesday due to large goal differences, discussion
to be held at the delegates meeting as to strategies for not displaying large
score differences.
 Second teams to nominate grades rather have a division of their own, further
discussion at the delegates meeting.
 Late change for Wednesday caused issues, in the event of late changes
 More caterers required at Netball
Speech & Debating
 Noise coming from the kitchen made it difficult
Touch
 New venue worked well, liked being close to Netball
 Goal post padding required, need ice and Sports Medicine at the venue, more
toilet cleaning was required.
 An issue with a score discrepancy in one game
 Issue with football players coming in once the game had commenced,
highlighted if they were on the team sheet this was okay.
Volleyball
 Difference in whether umpires were scoring to 21 or 25, should have be raised
with the coordinator.

6. General Business
AFL- Yr 8&9

The rule was introduced following advice from the WA Football Commission.
Following discussion it was agreed to remain with the current rule for both AFL
Boys. Advice will be sought from the WAFC with regards to recommended
ages for the girls
Closing Ceremony

Details are in the booklet, there is a Dance and Parkour demonstration prior to
the closing ceremony.


Issues with parking at Opening Ceremony discussed
Service Awards


Were presented to 4 teachers
Reminder of the process to provide the numbers of years on the school return,
this is to highlight to coordinators teachers who are close to receiving awards.

Further discussion will be held at the delegates meeting in December

Sunday Opening Ceremony difficult for some schools due to flights
Consider having smaller schools attend DHS
Consider evening games
Introduce a new sport, Ultimate Frisbee was suggested
Consider Lords as an additional venue
Ensure all divisions play on all courts and surfaces, not just the lower divisions.



Recommendation to have a shuttle bus, it was indicated that some schools
have buses that are underutilised schools can liaise to see if they can work
together.
Due to logistics some schools are having to limit numbers

Fixturing of school teams not playing at the same time to be avoided as much
as possible. Schools are asked to look at the fixtures

Morning Meeting worked well and will be continued for next year
Meeting closed 4.30pm
Next meeting of regional delegates to be held Dec 4th 2015
