No Summer Reading for you!
So, you didn’t read a single book this summer? There are undoubtedly a lot of reasons why students
choose not to read a summer reading selection. Your task for this assignment is to explain them. Quite
honestly, books are hugely popular. Nearly 30 novels are made into huge budget films each year.
Borders is raking in the dough. Amazon.com began its empire selling only books. In fact, want to know
the top selling product on Amazon.com? Yep, it’s the kindle e-book reader. So even if you find you
don’t read books on your own, quite a few people really do.
For this assignment, please write an essay detailing why you didn’t read a single book this summer. List
your reasons; try to really figure it out. Do you really believe it was not valuable? Why? Why not? Was
it the list?
Your essay should include: TAG, Introduction, at least 2 body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You should
EXPLORE your reasons and specifically discuss at least TWO books on the list.
***Keep in mind, I am interested in ALL the reasons. Simply saying “I’m lazy” and repeating that over
and over is not enough. Reading is probably considered to be the most important educational activity
on the planet. Millions of people do it all the time. Why not you?
