Course Requirements
Final Course Grade: 75% of your overall grade comes from lecture and 25% will come from
your lab
i. Lecture: 4 Lecture Exams (10% each), Daily Assignments (20%), & Final Exam (15%)
The lecture is going to be integrated with a variety of different activities to help you learn
college biology effectively. Thus, daily assignments are necessary to include as a part of
your grade. Assignments may include quizzes, projects, hands on activities, article
analyses, etc. There will also be lecture and final exams consisting of a variety of
different modes of questions (multiple choice, essay, and fill in the blank)
ii. Lab: Laboratory Reports (10%), Presentation (5%), & Research Paper (10%)
The lab portion of the class will consist of activities where data is derived and analyzed.
The labs will directly relate to concepts learned in lecture. Presentations and a research
paper will be required to help find a relationships between concepts and greater learn
how they apply to the real world.
iii. Grading Scale: A- 90-100%, B- 80-89%, C- 70-79%, D- 60-69%, & F- 0-59%

Instructor’s Policies
Student Conduct: Students must adhere to the Student Code of Conduct and be prepared for
class. Cheating will not be tolerated on exams or written reports. All material referenced
must be cited.
Laboratory Safety: Students will behave properly to ensure a safe environment. Proper
techniques and appropriate protective equipment will be worn. Follow all directions and
make sure you leave the workstation clean.
Attendance: Students must comply with EPISD policies for the number of days that can be
missed.
Electronic Devices: Electronic devices may be used ONLY when instructed to do so as a part
of an assignment during class.
