 UB now has a provisional negotiated Facilities and
Administrative Cost Rate (“Indirect Rate”) with the federal
government.

THE ASSISTANTSHIPS AND SCHOLARSHIPS
OFFICE
 The Assistantships and Scholarships Office (ASO) is in
the process of being established.
 Central coordination point for 250 GA’s a year at UB.
 GA’s work as graduate assistants, teaching assistants
and research assistants.
 The Graduate Assistantship Program for 100
Engineering GA’s and 65 Business GA’s will be open to
new graduate students starting Fall 2009.
 Deans Assistantships and Society of Women in
Engineering Assistantships are also being created.

SEED MONEY GRANT PROGRAM
 The Division of Graduate Studies and Research
initiated the first-ever Seed Money Grant Program this
year, awarding $100,000 to 23 Principal Investigators as
follows:
