Groups will be assigned at random, depending on the lowest individual student grade in that group.
The group with the lowest grade (student) will have first selection, followed by the next lowest grade.
Your Group is Responsible for Chapter: _______ Title of Chapter: ___________________________________________
Rationale: In order to understand how bureaucracy works, you are going to be assigned one chapter from this unit
and your group will function as a “Bureaucracy.” Your group will become “experts” related to the chapter’s topic.
Your mini-bureaucracy will collaborate, function, act, and perform duties expected of a bureaucracy. The first, and
greatest power of your bureaucracy is “discretionary authority.” Use it wisely because the rest of the minibureaucracies will be depending on you (as well as you will be depending on them) to function at 100% capacity to
prepare for your Unit 7 Summative.
Directions: Your group is responsible for performing the following criteria (1-4):
1.
By using diplomacy and democratic ideals select a:
a. Team Leader:_____________________________________
(Team Leader’s grade is based upon one of the two criteria’s: team’s test average or personal test score)
(The lowest grade a team leader can earn is a 50% IF criteria 1-4 are met. (40 points))
(All team leaders will earn a HW Pass)
b. Team Members: _______________, ______________. ______________,_______________ , _____________
(Member’s grade is based upon: personal quiz score score or class test average, plus criteria 1-4)
(The lowest grade a team member can earn is 80% - regardless of criteria 1-4 not being met. (64 points))
2.
25 questions from the multiple choice quiz of your assigned chapter (to simulate the AP Exam)
a. You will be given a Test Question Bank, you are to select 25 that you find that are most relevant to your
chapter. The answers to the choices will NOT be provided, but you may research them in the chapter.
b. Test Bank must be returned back to Mr. Brooks with the top 25 questions highlighted or selected.
3.
A Study Guide for your classmates (All AP Classes) that they can use to study for the AP Exam
a. This study guide will need to be reproducible, so that Mr. Brooks can make copies.
b. To include: key words, concepts, ideas, policy, events, etc. from your chapter.
c. Thus, you are to create a study guide that outlines the chapter, not just a “cheat sheet” questions and answers
from your Test Bank.
d. It can include diagrams, pictures, etc.
e. Study guide needs to be MINIMUM one full page (front sided only) and you may cram as much as you want on
this page. Using the back is encouraged.
f. Study guide must be emailed to Mr. Brooks the day BEFORE your presentation.
4.
At least one member will be responsible as the spokesperson and “round-robin” to the other groups to present your work.
In case any of your classmates have questions about your study guide or you want to clarify your chapter even more.
a. This will be at least your team leader and any other members needed for presentation!
b. You may use visuals, create a video, sing a song, do a dance , props, PowerPoints, etc., to present your chapter
c. You will have 10 minutes to present your “Bureaucracy” in front of the class.
5.
Your group will then take an “open note study guide” test over the four chapters (Summative 7).
a. Summative will have approximately 10 questions from each Bureaucracy (around 40 MC questions).
