Meniere’s Dis. Case 1 History
52 y/o female
 Diagnosed with Meniere’s disease and
plan of treatment was through diuretics
and diet
 Been experiencing severe monthly
episodes
 At this visit intratympanic gentamicin
injection was performed on the left ear

Case 2 History
Diagnosed with Meniere’s disease 10
years ago in the right ear
 Now experiencing trouble that looks like
left sided Meniere’s
 Reports dizziness feels like motion
sickness.
 Doctor would like to test for Lyme
disease

Case 3 History
43 year old female
 Possible meniere’s disease

Recommendation

Options:
– Transtympanic steriod/gentamicin injection
– Endolymphatic sac decompression &
labrynthectomy
– Vestibular nerve section
Case 4 History

55 year old female
 4 months prior the pt. was awoken by a large
screech in her right ear, when she opened
her eyes she noticed intense vertigo causing
excessive vomiting
 Pt was admitted for four days into the hospital
MRI and CT were negative for any pathology,
diagnosed with vestibular neuronitis at that
stay
History Cont’
She notes that she is unable to sleep
laying back on her bed or turning to the
right due to vertigo
 She states that vertigo only occurs
when moving her head rapidly from side
to side
 Non-pulsitile tinnitus is constant in the
right ear

Diagnosis

Differential diagnosis includes
idiopathic Meniere’s disease as one of
the possibilities – Dr. requests to see
scans to determine diagnosis
Case 5 History
73 year old female
 Diagnosed with Meniere’s disease
 In the last year she has had 6
vertiginous attacks

Case 6 History
54 year old male
 Since 1997 noticed a gradual and
fluctuating hearing loss
 Reports feeling aural fullness and
dizziness
 Constant tinnitus is present

