Electronic Mail
Electronic mail:
A system of world-wide electronic
communication in which a computer user
can compose a message at one terminal
that can be regenerated at the recipient's
terminal when the recipient logs in.
Computer-Based vs. Web-Based Email
Computer-based email stores your incoming
messages on a server until you are ready to collect
them. Once you download the messages, they are
deleted from the server and stored on your PC.
With web-based email, you use your internet browser
to go to the email provider's site, then log in with a
user name and password. The email provider stores
all your messages for you.
