• Objective: Students will examine the events that led
to Napoleon's rise and fall to power through text,
written response and activity.
• “A form of government with a constitution to guide its
leaders and citizens and an elected or inherited leader
(usually a monarch) who does not have total power and is
bound to and must abide by the rules and laws in the
constitution”
• Warm-Up: What does the above definition describe?

• Napoleon worked to restore order and stability to
post-revolutionary France.
• Though he was a dictator, Napoleon gave France the
kind of equality that the Revolution had called for.
• However, Napoleon did not permit freedom of the
press nor did he give the French a break from conflict
and war.
