Most of his patent experience has been in the role of in-house counsel in big pharma (GSK, Abbott Labs and ALZA/J&J) having responsibility for worldwide patent portfolios covering commercially successful drugs and medical devices. Representative responsibilities included patent procurement and ANDA litigation as well as regulatory issues such as Orange Book listings and exclusivity extensions. Illustrative technologies have included pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, nanomedicines, biomedical devices, nutraceuticals, medical devices, drug delivery devices, diagnostics, imaging and contrasting agents, and research tools. In private practice, Chris provides patent preparation and prosecution for chemical and life science companies of all sizes as well as universities and non-profits. Outside of the life sciences, Chris has patent experience involving nanotechnology, biofuels, catalysts, chemical synthesis/engineering, imaging reagents, polymers, polymer additives, material science, microfluidics, water treatment, semiconductor fabrication, fuel cells, battery and capacitor technologies, and related/applied technologies. Chris has considerable patent procurement and post-grant experience with the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office, the European Patent Office and the various foreign national patent offices. Chris is also a former USPTO Patent Examiner in the polymer and chemical arts. Chris earned his Juris Doctor degree from John Marshall Law School and holds a Bachelor of Sciences degree in Chemical Engineering from Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana. Chris is admitted to practice law in Wisconsin and the District of Columbia, and, before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Chris has been registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office since 1993. Christopher Rogers has been practicing law for over 17 years with national firms in Washington and Wisconsin. Mr. Rogers is also a registered Patent Attorney with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, and member of the Washington State Bar. At Lee & Hayes, Mr. Rogers was partner and manager of the practice group for patent attorneys and agents. His extensive patent prosecution experience focuses in the areas of chemistry and life sciences, including pharmaceuticals, commercial chemistry, diagnostic compounds and medical devices. Mr. Rogers’s background also features industry experiences. He served in the patent counsel capacity for Abbot Laboratories in Chicago, Illinois, for GlaxoSmithKline at Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, as well as for Alza Corporation in Palo Alto, California. Mr. Rogers holds a Juris Doctor degree from the John Marshall Law School, and a Bachelor of Science degree from Purdue University in Chemical Engineering, where he completed his studies near the top of his class.
