Where did they go live during the Spanish conquest? GAUCHOS: What do they do? What word in English do we use to refer to them? What is their spirit like? Name three important parts of the clothes they wear. MORE ON ARGENTINA: Who was Evita Peron? Who was Juan Peron? How did Patagonia and Tierra del Fuego get their names? Which explorer named them? Central American capitals: Compare and contrast architectural elements of the capitals. Discuss the role of natural disasters in the placement and architecture of the capital cities. Teach the Lesson: Activities: Worksheet on Central American Capitals 1. Teacher will hand out Venn diagram worksheet on Central American capitals. Teacher will lead students to help them come up with the differences and similarities of the capitals (thinking about presence of colonial architecture, having to move capitals/having colonial architecture destroyed because of natural disasters, and which capital is the most economically developed. 2. After students complete the Venn diagram, they will do short answer questions about other characteristics of Central American capitals. 3. To finish the worksheet, they will write down the mnemonic device for Central American countries (My Grandma Eats Ham Not Chicken Patties → (México), Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panamá) Kahoot! Online Quiz 1. Students take out their devices and log onto kahoot.it. Teacher will give students the game pin: 474594. Students will log onto kahoot.it and the quiz will commence. The quiz consists of 18 questions about Southern Cone culture. They are multiple choice questions and students have 30 seconds to answer each one. As long as everything goes well technology-wise, this will be taken as a quiz grade.
