Computer and Software Requirements Communication with your professor and colleagues will be via Blackboard (Bb) on your computer. In order to run Bb, you must have a computer with web browser and internet connection. Your Bb login is the same as your Kean email login. Please test this PRIOR to class and sign off below that you are able to access BB and have the course showing on your course list. If you have not used Bb, please read over the information located at (http://blackboard.kean.edu). Basic use of Bb will be covered in the first class. You will use a word processor, spreadsheet and presentation program in this class. The campus standard is Microsoft Office version 2007 which is available in all campus computer labs. You may choose to use another program (ie: Open Office at openoffice.org); if you choose to use a different program, please be sure that your choice of software is compatible with Microsoft Office 2007. Student Responsibilities There are significant differences in an online course from a traditionally instructed course. As such, students should be aware of their responsibilities prior to beginning the course. In an online course, such as Research and Technology, students are required to: Attend class as required by the professor; although this is intended to be an online course, the Professor may require in-person or online live meetings when needed. Students should be available every week during the scheduled class time (Saturdays 9-11:45AM) in case a meeting is scheduled. You will be notified by email and also posted as an announcement on Bb. Log in on Wednesdays 8-9PM. or Saturdays 9-10am. for synchronous class sessions. Log in on Wednesday-Saturday to participate in group work and discussions. Log in on Saturday to turn in classwork (work is due by before midnight Saturday night) Communicate with your group members. 10% of your grade comes from your peer evaluations and peer group work.
