Announcement:
Turkey – Denmark Call for Proposals for Joint R&D Projects
Deadline for Submission is the 15th of September 2013
Scope
Turkey and Denmark are announcing the 3rd Call for Proposals for joint R&D projects, focusing on
developing innovative products and applications in renewable energy and water purification technology.
Applicants are expected to develop ready-to-market solutions or projects with a strong market potential for
Turkey and Denmark.
Although EUREKA is open for projects within all areas, special focus is given to the following domains in
this call:

Wind energy, solar cells, biomass etc.

Water purification systems.

Smart grids for electricity and water management systems.
Public funding and matchmaking support for joint projects will be made availed by TÜBİTAK and
The Danish Agency for Science, Technology and Innovation according to national rules.
The call is announced in the field of industrial research and development between Denmark and
Turkey and in cooperation with EUREKA. Hence, the program is managed in cooperation and in
line with the procedures of the EUREKA innovation platform (www.eurekanetwork.org).

TÜBİTAK and The Danish Agency for Science, Technology and Innovation will provide all
necessary assistance to project partners during the project proposal, evaluation and
monitoring phase.

Call Launch and Structure
The Call is launched the 26th of June 2013 by TÜBİTAK and The Danish Agency for Science, Technology
and Innovation.
Eligible partners are invited to present joint proposals for industrial R&D projects according to the following
criteria:

The partners should include at least one Danish and one Turkish R&D performing commercial company.
Participation of research institutes/universities are welcomed as additional participants or subcontractors
according to each country’s funding regulations.

Industrial and innovation actors from other countries may also participate, but they will not be funded by
TÜBİTAK or The Danish Agency for Science, Technology and Innovation.

The project should have an obvious advantage and added value resulting from the cooperation between
the participants from the two countries (e.g. increased knowledge base, commercial leads, access to
R&D infrastructure etc.).

The project should demonstrate the contribution of the participants from both countries on an equal base,
and the project must be equally significant to all participants.
Any partner whose cooperative R&D project is consistent with the aforesaid criteria can apply to the present
announcement in accordance with the national Laws, Rules, Regulations and Procedures in effect.
Financing
Each country will fund its eligible participants within the EUREKA framework. Funding conditions and
eligibility criteria may vary from country to country. The main aspects of the funding criteria are:

Turkey
All companies which were established in accordance with Turkish law can apply for funding for
their international EUREKA projects. There is no budget limit for international projects and they can
be funded by TÜBITAK without any restriction in project duration. Only companies participating in
international projects are funded within this program but universities and research centers can be
funded as subcontractors.
Companies receive a percentage of their eligible costs as a grant in this call. There is no maximum or
minimum limit to the project budget. The percentage is 60 for large companies and 75 for SMEs.

Denmark
There is at present no national EUREKA programme in Denmark. Other national
programmes such as EUDP, High Tech Foundation or the Knowledge Voucher Programme
can in accordance with the specific funding rules for those programme be used as the Danish
platform for funding or a company can choose to self-fund their part of the project.
Submission and the approval procedures for EUREKA applications will be of two phases:

In the first phase, partners will be asked to register on the EUREKA webpage and download the
EUREKA Project Application Form to present a short project outline via the following link:
http://www.eurekanetwork.org/download-project-application-form. The completed electronic phase 1
forms should be submitted to TÜBİTAK and The Danish Agency for Science, Technology and
Innovation simultaneously no later than the 15th of September 2013 at 18:00 (local time).

The outlines will be screened and evaluated by TÜBİTAK and The Danish Agency for Science,
Technology and Innovation and the results will be notified to the companies within two weeks.

In the second phase, partners with approved outlines will be invited to submit their funding
applications according to national procedures to EUREKA. Partners with outlines approved for
phase 2 will be instructed by TÜBİTAK and The Danish Agency for Science, Technology and
Innovationon how to complete submission of their funding applications.
