that word, antonym/synonym.
Cause and Effect Unit. Cause and Effect mode
paragraph assigned and read example. Diamante
poems and worksheets. Rough Draft due Friday.
Transition notes. Infinitive and Appositive phrases

Essential Questions:
1.How can writers use description, narration, process analysis, cause and effect, compare and
contrast, argument, and dialogue to effectively tell a story that is both cohesive, clear and
action pact.
2. How can we use literary devices to make our words come alive?
3. How can we practice proper punctuation and recognize the use of active and passive voice
in order to make our written work more enjoyable to the reader?
Objectives:
Students will be able to effectively tell a story by both using the art of description and dialogue.
Students will be able to effectively create a narrative that has a beginning, middle, end while
using good grammar and correct punctuation.

Tuesday/ Wednesday: PLAN on Tuesday. Even
hours will get MYP personal project notes OR begin
Freedom Writers -- Make direct connections about the
prejudice and acts of hatred and intolerance that students
witness in their own lives. This lesson is meant to facilitate
a discussion that examines these issues and to further
apply these issues for future units we will study.
Thursday: Logical fallacies activity and
argument mode paragraph given.

character, blindness vs vision, truth vs illusion , Greek law vs. Roman
(English) law ,etc.
3. The student will analyze and differentiate the types of irony and
justify their meaning.
