State-Wide Networks The Ultimate Collaborative Opportunity Presented by the Wisconsin National Board Network, Inc. Proposal and PowerPoint presentation created by Karen Corlyn, NBCT Presented at the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards Conference in Atlanta, Georgia on July 18, 2009 Learning Intention of this Session To illustrate what the Wisconsin National Board Network, Inc. along with our partners have done in the State of Wisconsin to support candidates. To provide the workshop participants the vehicle with which to prioritize how they will proceed to form their own State NBCT Network. To provide a forum in which workshop participants may appraise their needs and identify the resources available. Please stand if you can agree with each statement: I am a National Board Certified Teacher. I am a candidate for National Board Certification. I teach at the college level or provide support for NBPTS. I am here with other teachers from my state. My state already has a network. I believe that teachers do a better job when they share ideas. I believe it takes reflection to become a truly great teacher. Mission Statement The mission of the Wisconsin National Board Network is to enhance student learning by: • promoting National Board Certification • supporting those seeking certification • advocating for educational reforms • encouraging continued professional development, including leadership development, for National Board Certified Teachers.
