(use the glossary at the back of the book & Chapter 2) Objective: The student will be able recognize, define, spell, and pronounce terms related to the structure, function and pathology of tissues and glands. Lesson: (day 1) The Human Body in Health & Disease When you are finished defining your word parts list, choose a word part to create a mnemonic. It may be a prefix, combining form (word root + o), or suffix. Try to come up with a mnemonic device for your word part. You can think of what sounds the same OR you can think of pictures. When everyone is finished, be ready to present your mnemonic device. Anatomic Position Label your Diagram Use these terms: Anterior Caudal Cephalic Dorsal Posterior Ventral These can be used to describe location of pain or skin/tissue trauma. Remember: It is the patient’s left or right that is the point of reference. Why is each region given that specific name? You will write 1 summary sentence in your notes about your genetic disease. This is your Expert Group. The same rule applies to all of the other numbers. Each number is given a separate article. After 10 minutes, you will then return to you Jigsaw Group and share what you read/discussed and the summary sentence about your genetic disease.
