Purpose
• To evaluate the project with regard to its initial success parameters;
• To provide feedback to the client, stakeholders, and members of the project team.
Description
The Project Completion Report contains both a history of the project and a final evaluation of
performance and effectiveness. It documents the lessons learned: it highlights what worked well and
what didn't, and offers explanations and possible alternatives to problems that were encountered.
Since the aim is to contribute to the corporate – or institution - knowledge and experience, the Project
Completion Report must be clear, to the point, and cover all aspects of the project.
Globally, the Project Completion Report reviews the project plans and compares them with the
reality. Significant variances are highlighted and justified. It also provides the final status of the
project and ensures that any lessons learned are reported, and successes communicated. This
facilitates replication of successful approaches, and avoidance of mistakes.
Recommendations can be made in the report, and any item of the project that can be reused should be
described with enough detail to ensure easy retrieval of information.
This particular template of Project Status Report has been adapted from a real-life template and
simplified to match the needs of the Integrated Project.
