About the Program: The Administrative Officers for the Future program is intended to cultivate a diverse pool of highly talented and motivated staff interested in pursuing administrative officer positions (e.g., chief administrative officers, management services officers, department administrators, program managers). The UC Davis Administrative Officers for the Future program supports the campus commitment to develop and retain a distinguished and diverse staff and is intended to increase participants’ sense of community and commitment to UC Davis. Participant Eligibility: Employees who meet the following criteria are eligible to apply: At least one year at UC Davis, past probation, career status Currently employed in a PSS Grade 2-8 position (e.g., Analyst 2 – Analyst 8). The time commitment on the part of the employee includes: 1-2 days per month of classroom activities 40-hour group project Individual work, including: o Competency-based and function-based assessments o Development planning o Informational interviews o Analytical writing assignment The supervisor’s role in supporting an employee’s participation in the UC Davis Administrative Officers for the Future program is crucial to the ultimate success of that employee’s experience of the program as a whole. As such, the supervisor’s commitment to their employee’s participation in the program should be reflected in the Supervisor’s Statement of Support. It is a seven-month program that is intended to prepare qualified staff to take advantage of future administrative officer opportunities, but does not necessarily provide all that is needed to be successful as an administrative officer. Individuals should be prepared to pursue additional opportunities for professional development.
