General Body Meeting – September 12, 2007

Welcome and Introductions

What is MNO?
MNO was created in hope of promoting cultural awareness in the medical
community. We are also committed to community service and providing
social and academic support to our members. It is open to all nursing
students at the University of Penn. Dues are $5/year – please see
Stephanie!

Fundraising
a. Bake Sales
i. September 24th and 26th (Monday and Wednesday)
1. Baking party Sunday, September 25th – details to come!
ii. October 29th and 31st (Halloween-themed)
VI.
Pre-Nursing Society – a sign-up sheet was sent around to get involved in this
great outreach program. For more information or to sign up, please email Dr.
Siantz at siantz@nursing.upenn.edu.
VII.
The Nursing School’s Latino Heritage Month celebration will take place
October 10th with speakers and food. The presentation, which is focused on
HIV in vulnerable populations, will be from 4-5pm with a reception and food to
follow from 5-6pm. The Nursing School will also be celebrating Black History
Month as well as Pan-Asian culture in the near future– details to come.

It is encouraged that MNO members join and become active members of
cultural professional nursing organizations – links for these organizations can

Foundation

b. Projected student ticket prices are $40-$45
c. Sit-down dinner, DJ, live band, speaker
