How to incorporate quoted evidence in your t-chart.
1. Finish your t-charts first.
2. All your evidence in your t-charts should be paraphrased
written in your own words).
3. On the back of your t-chart sheet, draw 2 lines, creating 3 columns; one per
paragraph claim.
4. In each column add 2 quotes, WITH PARENTHETICAL CITATIONS.
1. Each quote should support one of your evidence points.
2. You MUST have 2 QUOTES PER PARAGRAPH
3. You should try to have one quote per warrant.

ESSAY T-CHART
CLAIMS MUST BE A COMPLETE SENTENCE.
WARRANTS SHOULD BE A COMPLETE SENTENCE.
EVIDENCE IS OFTEN A SIMPLE PHRASE.
In a T-chart the writer develops the ideas mentioned in the cluster. A t-chart contains
more information, specific details and and explanations than a cluster map.
WITHIN THE T-CHART you have PARAPHRASE (write it in your own words) your evidence,,
THEN you can add the cited quotations you will using to support your evidence.
Writing the 1st Draft
1. Write your name at the top of 3 separate sheets of blank paper.
To make it easier to score and to rearrange later, you will write each body paragraph on a separate piece of
paper. (3 body paragraphs = 3 sheets of paper)
2. Using your t-charts as a guide, write a rough draft of body paragraph #1.
