Differential-Association
Theory
 I picked this theory because it is due to
criminal behavior being learned. OJ grew up
in the housing projects in San Fransisco so he
had a rough upbringing. He was raised by a
single mother also so had a different
childhood. He joined a gang in his teenage
years that he was apart of before leaving for
college. Although he left for college and
became a very successful pro athlete he still
had the criminal mindset from his upbringing.
Cont.
 I also believe that he may have been attached to
his upbringing throughout his entire professional
career . This meant he still kept all of his values
he learned young. With his crimes later in his life
it obviously shows that he was influenced greatly
by his youthful upbringing. It seems to me that
he may have lost majority of contact with his
deviant ways during his career of playing football
but during his retirement went back to it. Since
he grew up in a rough environment it was just a
natural reaction. He spent his entire childhood
around bad influences. This caused him to
become a criminal and fall to deviant acts.
