Introduces the airplane to entry-level student pilots as they prepare for flight training. Stresses airport systems, air traffic control procedures, aviation weather, air navigation, radio communication procedures, and Federal Aviation Regulations. Prepares students for the required FAA Private Pilot Airplane Knowledge Test. Prerequisites This class is available to all high school juniors and seniors in good academic standing. High school prerequisites apply. There are no college prerequisites for this course. Department Policies Attendance and Participation Regular attendance and participation is an absolute for the successful completion of this course. Assessment Participation ~ Assignments ~ Grading Philosophy Daily chapter assignments and activities will be assigned. These will be turned in on a daily basis. There will also be projects and packets assigned throughout the year. There will be weekly quizzes that will be given in class. There will be a large comprehensive exam given quarterly. Grading Scale 2 A = 100-93 B - = 82-80 D+ = 69-67 A - = 92-90 C+ = 79-77 D = 66-63 B+ = 89-87 C = 76-73 D - = 62-60 B = 86-83 C - = 72-70 F = 59-0 Grades and Credit You will receive the same grade for your high school course as you receive for your college course. Your grade for this class will become part of your permanent college transcript and will affect your GPA. A low grade in this course can affect college acceptance and scholarship eligibility.
