Abstract
In the following you will find information of what I hope to be my future daycare center held in
my very own home. Taking a close look you will find what I imagine the exterior of the building
to be, the floor plan, an intake on an individual room along with the list of equipment and
furniture needed in that particular room as well as the prices and budget list. I know in order to
have success in my dreams I need to take action and planning my program is the first step.

The daycare center I designed is what I hope to own somewhere down the road in the
future. My desire is to be a stay at home mom and having a daycare center from my home makes
that passion possible. The house I chose for my daycare is big, and hopfully I will be blessed to
live in a house big enough to hold a learning and recreational environment for children. I
designed the center from a log home because it truely prepared me for having a daycare of my
own.
The majority of the daycare is in the basement of the house. The office and the entrance are
the only two areas that are on the main floor. Having the majority of the center downstairs will
make it easier as a supervisor to focus fully on the kids with no home distractions such as
phonecalls or a messy kitchen.
The room I highlighted to furnish and buy equipment for is the big play area. Keep in mind
as I explain to you what it looks like that the craft room, eating area, and classroom have many
different learning activities with in those seperate rooms. The play room is meant soley for
playtime. When the kids come down the stairs they are welcomed through a bright hallway into a
big open area with toys and games for children. Starting at the end of the room I placed a long
couch that stretches from wall to wall as decor and as comfor for the children. In the far left
corner is the relaxing station where children will be able to read quitly with one another and have
a rest time if they desire. I chose a animal beannie bags and blankets because kids love to cuddle
and this furniture is very comfortable and enjoyable for the children to use. The book shelf is
double sided, one side containing books and the other containing storage bins for blocks and
board games. As a young child I remember having a car matt. It was almost like I was in my own
little world when I drove to do the groceries or race my sisters, I absolutely loved it and that is
why I included it in my own daycare. This matt is interactive, for girls or boys and is right beside

the relaxing station. Along with the car matt is a train set in which I also loved as a child and
chose to include because it allows the childrent to interact with eachother during play.
Moving into the center of the room their are toy tikes, I included them in the room because
children love to play on them, however these tikes are meant for cihldren under the age of five
because the older children would abuse them indoors. Outdoor you will find bigger bikes and
scooter for the older kids to play with during outdoor playtime. The rhapsody play set is a sturdy
wooden play toy that children above three can mingle on. It includes a slide, a climber, fun
colours, and a climbing wall. There are many additions that can be made to this playset and it can
changed if a new environment is desired.
Next the children will find a play section for athletic games such as fooseball, shuffle
board, baskeball, or air hockey. I loved these as a child growing up and they create a good social
atmosphere for children to learn how to interact and to compete with eachother. The shuffle
board is an old dutch game that is mean for children above the age of five but the purpose is to
get little pieces of wood into wholes with a selected number of points to each whole.
Finally, near the exit of the house there is a section for dress up and kitchen play. Every
child, boy or girl, loves to play house at some point or another at a young age and so I thought
this was an important play are for the kids. The kitchen includes the pretend appliances, oven,
fridge, microwave, stove, and a kichen table sized for children.
The decor of the classroom will be colourful and updated monthly. Their will be a bulletin
board that changes every month, and a chalkboard that the children will be able to colour on.
There will also be a cubby section with each childs name on it in which they can place their
crafts in.

In conclusion, I have thought of many things within the room that I need and have shopped
online fairly cheap but using money wisely. I realized the expence it takes to start a daycare and
the organization of the equipment is a big job. However, this does not stop me from planning the
rest of the equipment that will be needed someday for the rest of the center.
