IP Authentication Referrer URL/Domain EZproxy Athens Authentication Username/Password Methods of Access IP Authentication: Institutional subscribers submit their network IP ranges to McGraw-Hill during subscription setup. These ranges are verified and loaded into the system, and all users coming from inside the range are automatically provided seamless access. Referrer URL/Domain: Institutional subscribers can place registered links to AccessEngineering behind their secure login (e.g., a library site that has already validated a student). The institution must register the domain and URLs where the links are placed with McGraw-Hill during subscription setup. These links will then seamlessly log the user into AccessEngineering every time they are clicked, whether on-site or remotely. Under Reports, click either ICOLC or COUNTER to retrieve usage reports in either of those formats ICOLC Usage Reports: Explanation Of Terms Number Of Sessions: The total number of unique sessions. Where users have cookies enabled, a session is an uninterrupted period of use of a site; it does not equal the number of unique users since a given person can have multiple sessions. A user-session will be terminated if there is more than fifteen minutes of inactivity. Total Session Time (hh:mm): The total time of all sessions added together. Average Session Time: The total session time divided by the number of sessions. Average Pages Per Session: The number of web pages requested divided by the number of sessions. Full Content Units Requested: The number of entries viewed. For long articles split into sections, each section counts as a separate “content unit”. Web Pages Requested: The number of HTML pages accessed. Hits: The number of files served, i.e., counts all the images and other files on a page, plus all html pages. ICOLC Usage Reports: Explanation Of Terms (cont’d) Queries (Searches): The number of times a search request is submitted to the server. Any subsequent activity to review or browse among the records retrieved, or to view an entry from the list, is not recorded as an additional search. Full-Content Units Reached From Browse: The number of entries reached from the browse menu. Turnaways: If a subscription is limited by concurrency, the number of turnaways will indicate how often the concurrency limit has been exceeded and users barred from the product. COUNTER Usage Reports: Explanation Of Terms R2: Successful section requests by title: Contains the number of successful requests per month for sections in that title. The last column contains the total number of successful requests for each month reported (year-to-date). R4: Turnaways by service: Contains the number of turnaways per month. The last column contains the sum of the turnaways for each month reported (year-to-date). R6: Searches and sessions by service: Contains the number of searches per month.
