Release date:4/11/2014
Kampala, Uganda- 10th April, 2014
Away from the hustle and bustle of Kampala central business district, the MTN Uganda
leadership team took time off to commune with MTN Dealers from across the country at the
exclusive Chobe Safari Lodge in Murchison Falls National Park. The annual MTN Dealers’
Conference took place from 27th -28th March, 2014.
All the 12 MTN Dealerships from across the country were represented.
The conference agenda was centred on a performance review for the year 2013 with a key
focus on the business strategy for 2014. The MTN team led by the CEO Mazen Mroué used
this opportunity to network and strategise with these key business partners.
The discussion also offered an overview of the Telecom landscape in the country, MTN
branding across Uganda, operational processes and the performance on key products such as
MTN Mobile Money and its Data services among others.
“MTN Uganda continues to focus on its robust distribution network that ensures that MTN
products and services are available throughout the year across the country. The dealers are at
the foundation of this network and as such is important that we maintain a two way working
relationship with them through consistent engagement on both operational challenges and key
business successes,” said Mroué.
The MTN General Manager Sales and Distribution, Phrase Lubega thanked the Dealers for
their continued commitment in supporting the business strategy of MTN and for also being
great brand ambassadors in their different areas of business. He applauded the fact that in the
regions, the Dealers were the ears and eyes of the MTN brand and often the first point of
contact for the over 8.8 million loyal MTN customers.
MTN Uganda’s continuous investment in Uganda has enabled job creation in the country.
Today there are more than 560,000 Ugandans directly or indirectly employed, many of whom
are employed through MTN’s distribution network.
On his part, the of the MTN Chairman Dealers Forum, Norman Batuma hailed MTN Uganda
for the conference adding that it will go a long way in enhancing the bond between MTN and
the dealers. He called upon the dealers to be innovative, disciplined and focused.
“The Annual MTN Dealers’ Conference was extremely successful in strengthening focus for
the MTN businesses in all aspects. The conference gave us renewed energy to take on the
challenges for us to achieve greater heights in 2014 and beyond,” Batuma said.
Also commenting on the Dealer Forum, Patrick Bitature representing Simba telecom,
appreciated the support and effort of the MTN management and increasing transparency all
the way from the very top - down. He called upon the dealers to work together to build a
stronger MTN family and ring fence the loyal customer base by exceeding their expectations
rather than just delivering a service.
