KINGDOM BUILDING CLASSES
DISCOVERING CHURCH PARTNERSHIP
Welcome to Calvary Christian Center!
Finding a church that is on the move and making the decision to get
connected is not by accident, it is by divine appointment! God has a plan for your
life—you were born to do something very specific, that only you can accomplish! In
the message translation of the Bible, God says in the scripture Jeremiah 29:11, “I
know what I'm doing. I have it all planned out—plans to take care of you, not
abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for.” God connects people to
churches on purpose so He can bring forth their own unique vision within a
corporate vision. Every partner at Calvary Christian Center has been drawn in by
God to be a piece of the puzzle that builds the kingdom of God.
As you venture out on your journey to the Kingdom Building Classes, I
encourage you to pick up the torch and pursue your destiny like never before and I
declare that you will never be the same again!
In His Service,
Drs. Phillip and Brenda Goudeaux

DISCOVERING CHURCH PARTNERSHIP
CLASS 101 – WEEK 1
Introduction to the Kingdom Building Classes
Have any of these questions come across your mind?
⇨ What is Calvary Christian Center (CCC) is all about?
⇨ Will I fit in at this church?
⇨ How can I become a partner and get involved by serving in a ministry?
If so, we believe you will receive the answers as you experience The Kingdom Building Classes! In
these series of classes, you will learn what CCC teaches and what we believe, while strengthening
your spiritual foundation and providing an opportunity to become a partner of this great church.
The Bible teaches that we (the believers) are the church—not the building where church is held. Our
desire is that every student that completes these classes will feel welcomed with a deep sense of
belonging. No matter what level you are in your spiritual walk, our prayer is that you will find ways to
get involved in the vision of the church and consequently enrich your life, the church and its partners.
The Kingdom Building classes are designed to guide you through the process of becoming a partner
of the church, getting connected to the Ministry of Helps and understanding the vision of the ministry.
By the time you complete this course, your life will be enriched because you will know your purpose
and you will be used in a mighty way to advance the Kingdom of God.
The course curriculum combines a variety of classes that have been taught at CCC, which have been
condensed, in addition to classes that Rick Warren (Purpose Driven Life, Saddleback Church) has
used to develop successful leaders. The objective is to help you fulfill your purpose and experience
God’s best for your life.
These Kingdom Building Classes are constructed of six classes which will be covered over a twelve
week period. The curriculum outline is as follows:

PHASE I
CLASS 101: GETTING TO KNOW CCC (GOD’S CALL)
Objective: The purpose of this lesson is to enthusiastically connect the student to Calvary Christian
Center (CCC) by sharing the origin of the ministry, what the ministry offers in terms of spiritual growth
and development and show the student how they fit in to the vision. The student will also learn to
accept the experience of God's grace in their life so they can testify about their relationship with Jesus
Christ and understand that God pursues and seeks an eternal relationship with them.

The concept of the 5 C’s is to recognize our job is to go into the Community and
invite people to be part of the Crowd on Sunday during church services, where they
can hear the Word and receive salvation, then become a regular partner in the
Congregation where they can be taught to be Committed to God and the local
church, then as God transforms their heart, they will have the desire to part of the
Core that runs with the vision of the ministry
Life Group
 “I have become all things to all people, that I might by all means save some. I do it
all for the sake of the gospel, so that I may share in its blessings.” (1 Cor 9:22-23)

Life groups are one of God’s strategies for multiplication in the church in these last
days. We see its success within the early church. The life groups are small groups
of people who grow together in the Lord. There’s always good food, fun, and
fellowship!

What is required to be born again?
 First, we must live a new life. Birth is the beginning of life; to be born again is to begin anew
 Secondly, we must have a new nature, new principles, new affections, new aims, new goals,
and a new vision for life.
 By our first birth we are corrupt, living in sin and iniquity so then we must undergo a second
birth
 We must be born of God or born again
 The new birth is to be born to a divine and heavenly life, a life of communion with God. In
order to do this, we must take on a divine nature
 We cannot understand the grace of God or the nature of things pertaining to the kingdom of
God until our natural man becomes a spiritual man
 To be born again is to be born of the Spirit
 The change is not received by our own wisdom or power, but by the power and influence of
the Spirit of grace

BAPTISM
 There are two signs of God pursuing you. One is through Water Baptism and the other
is through Communion:
 Jesus has given the Church two primary ordinances to follow:
a) Water Baptism (Matthew 26:26-30; Mark 14:22-26; Luke 22:19-20; 1 Corinthians 11:2334;; Acts 2:36-41; Colossians 2:12).

● Baptism is the outward sign of the presence of God inside of you: God pursuing you!

KINGDOM BUILDING CLASSES

● Why should I be baptized?
▪ To follow Christ’s example. (Mark 1:9)
▪ Because Christ commanded it. (Matt. 8:19-20)
▪ Because it shows that God’s gift of faith is at work in your life. (Acts 18:8)
▪ It demonstrates to others that you are a believer. (1 John 2:3)
● How the Bible says to “Be baptized”
▪ With water, by a Christian, and in front of other people. (Matt. 3:16)
▪ Baptism as it is described in the Bible with water & IMMERSION!
▪ Offer each person the opportunity to share what they have experienced
● Who should be baptized?
▪ People who believe and receive – including families (Acts 16 :25-34)
● When are we to be baptized?
▪ As soon as you believe (Acts 2:41) (Mk 10:13-16) (Ex. 34:7b) (Ps. 51:2-5) (Acts
16:31-33)
▪ What are “sponsors” or “godparents” (1 Thes. 5:11)
▪ It is recommended that each person being baptized have two sponsors or godparents—
people who are models of faith.
● It is important to understand that without first making Jesus Lord of your life and believing
that God raised Him from the dead, water baptism has no purpose.
● Water baptism is not only significant to the person being baptized, but it also testifies to his
or her community what happened when their life was changed by Jesus.
● It confirms and strengthens the new believer’s commitment to live a godly life.
● It gives the believer the opportunity to openly testify to others of his experience of having
been crucified with Christ, buried with Him and raised together with Him to walk in newness
of life (Galatians 2:20; Romans 6:4-6).
● The significance of water baptism is clear when you understand the meaning of the original
Greek verb “baptidzo.” It means “to immerse.”
● Water baptism symbolizes the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ and the
identification of the believer with Him in those events
● Immersion is a picture of burial.
● Some churches sprinkle or pour water in the baptismal ceremony but CCC believes in
complete submersion
● Romans 6:4-6 - Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as
Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also
should walk in newness of life. For if we have been planted together in the likeness
of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: Knowing this, that

our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that
henceforth we should not serve sin”
● As you declare outwardly your identification with Jesus’ death, burial and resurrection, this
symbol will also be a significant reminder to you of what’s happened in your life,
strengthening you in your Christian journey!
● What cleanses us from sin is not the water but the precious blood that Jesus shed on the
cross (see Ephesians 1:7; Hebrews 9:22; Revelation 1:5).
● Baptism is every first Sunday of the month at CCC-North. Class begins at 4:30pm
b) Communion
● Jesus gave his life for you. (1 Cor. 11:23-26)
▪ We partake of communion in remembrance of Jesus and what He did on the cross
for us
▪ His body was broken for our healing and His blood was shed for our deliverance
(remission of sins)
▪ The Lord’s Supper is a present reminder of what God has done for you.
▪ What is the Communion / The Lord’s Supper?
▪ Bread = His Body
▪ Blood = The blood He shed for the remission of our sins
▪ Proclamation of our RELATIONSHIP, FELLOWSHIP with God and each other (1
Cor. 11:23-26)
● God Pursuing in “The Passover” of the Old Testament
● Communion is an essential part of the Christian life.
● Communion, or the Lord’s Supper, is symbolic of the blood and body of Jesus Christ.
● Jesus told His disciples to receive Communion as a remembrance of Him (1 Cor 11:24).
● While receiving Communion, remind yourself of the saving work Jesus did for you on
the cross.
● His body was broken, bruised and stricken for your complete healing.
● His blood was shed for our sin.
● Communion is the tangible reminder of Christ’s completed work on the cross. We can
rejoice as we receive Communion, knowing that we have been freed from the curse of
the law and are no longer in bondage to poverty, sickness or (spiritual) death.
● It is important that when we receive Communion we take it seriously, being mindful of all
that Christ’s redemptive work did for us.
● Before receiving Communion, we are to examine ourselves closely so as to receive the
Lord’s Supper worthily.
● We are to search our hearts to find out if we need to repent of anything or to forgive
anyone, confess our sins before a loving and forgiving God, and rid ourselves of any
hate or unforgiveness in our hearts against fellow Christians.
● When we receive Communion in this way, we do so having judged and considered our

own hearts (verses 27-31).
The elements themselves are not what make Communion holy; it is the manner in which
they are taken. If you know that God desires for you to receive Communion, don’t miss
the opportunity because you don’t have special elements on hand. Whether you use
bread and grape juice or a cracker and water is secondary in importance to what really
matters, which is receiving Communion with a pure heart as unto the Lord.
Finally, there is no scriptural restriction on how many times or how often we may receive
Communion (verse 26).
Taking Communion often is a dynamic discipline to implement into our lives. It reminds
us of the eternal covenant Jesus purchased for us with His own blood and broken body.
When we choose to make much of this precious gift, we begin to walk in the fullness
God desires for us to experience as joint heirs with Jesus.
We are scripturally reminded to remember what Jesus has done for us. 1 Corinthians
11:23 -32; Matthew 26:26 -29

Four Spiritual Steps; RESPONDING TO GOD PURSUING ME
● What does God want me to do with my faith-gift?
1. ADMIT that God has not been the most important and in first place in my life (1 John
1:9)
2. ACKNOWLEDGE that Jesus died to (Rom. 10:9) (Acts 4:12)
3. ACCEPT God’s free gift of salvation. (Eph. 2:8-9)
4. INVITE Jesus Christ to come and reveal himself in your life and be the director/boss,
“Lord” of your life. (John 1:12-13) (Rev. 3:20)

Everyone who heard what had happened was amazed.
My Faith Story/Testimony
 Why should I be ready to tell what God has done in my life? (1 Pet. 3:15)
 How to write it down: 3 parts
1. Life out of God’s control (Mark 5:4)
2. What occurred to change your life? What did you do? What happened? (Mark 5:13)
3. How has your life changed (Mark 5:19b)
Conclusion: Calvary Christian Center has had phenomenal success despite humble
beginnings. In Isaiah 60:22 it says, “A little one shall become a thousand and a small one a
strong nation: I the Lord will hasten it in his time.” God’s saving grace is so precious that God,
with all His power, could not find any other way to redeem us but through the blessed blood of
His own Son. Through Jesus, everything that man lost in Paradise was restored back to him
through faith. However, no man will be able to enjoy the abundant life without first admitting his
condition as a sinner, accepting Christ’s sacrifice on the cross, and believing in Him. With the
Holy Spirit guiding Drs. Phillip and Brenda Goudeaux and the mentorship of Apostle Frederick
K.C. Price and his lovely wife, Betty Price, THE BEST IS YET TO COME!
