Scholarships with March and April Deadlines
American Chemical Society Scholars Program Discipline: Chemistry, Biochemistry, or Chemical
Engineering. Award: Up to $3,000 a year Requirements: To be considered for a scholarship through the ACS
Scholars Program, candidates must be African-American, Hispanic/Latino, or American Indian, be a U.S.
citizen or permanent U.S. resident, be a full-time student at a high school or accredited college, university, or
community college, demonstrate high academic achievement in chemistry or science (Grade Point Average
3.0, "B" or better), demonstrate financial need according to the Free Application for Federal Student Aid form
(FAFSA) and the Student Aid Report (SAR) form, be a graduating high school senior or college freshman,
sophomore or junior intending to or already majoring in chemistry, biochemistry, chemical engineering or a

Dr. Grover W. White Scholarship Discipline: Medical Award: $1,500 renewable Requirements: Must be
seeking an advanced degree in a medical related field; i.e. MSN, or Nurse Practitioner, MD, DDS, PA, PT,
must already hold a bachelors degree or higher and must be seeking an advanced degree in a medical
related field; i.e. MSN, or Nurse Practitioner, MD, DDS, PA, PT, must already hold a bachelors degree or
higher with a 3.50 GPA minimum, and must be attending or have been accepted at an appropriate school for

Hampden - Sydney College - President's Scholarship Discipline: General Award: $15,000
grant Requirements: For candidates who have exhibited significant leadership in their school or community
and who have either a grade-point average of 3.5 or better and at least 1100 on the SAT (24 composite on the
ACT), or at least 1200 on the SAT (27 Composite on the ACT) and, in the opinion of Hampden-Sydney
College, strong academic performance in a rigorous college-preparatory program. Use admission's application

grant worth $30,000 toward tuition, required standard fees, room, and board, plus 100% of remaining financial

class, a composite SAT I score of 1400 or better and a class standing in the top 5%. To be considered for this

Hampden - Sydney College Alumni Scholarship Discipline: General Award: $5,000 grant Requirements:
For candidates who show strong academic performance and who, in the opinion of Hampden-Sydney College,
have exhibited outstanding leadership in their school or community through involvement in Clubs,
Organizations, Teams, Publications, Scouting, Church Activities, or Volunteer Work. Eligibility for the
Alumni scholarship is determined by your application for admission to Hampden-Sydney, there are no special

on the SAT (25 Composite on the ACT) and, in the opinion of Hampden-Sydney College, strong academic
performance in a rigorous college- preparatory program. Eligibility for the Dean scholarship is determined by

grant Requirements: Candidates must have demonstrated leadership by participating in numerous activities
both in their school and in their community. Their participation must have led to positions of responsibility as
evidence of the confidence and respect of both peers and adults. Top 15% of the class, 1250 or higher on the

Kettering University Discipline: General Award: Up to two $5,000 scholarships awarded. Supplemental coop work during the five-year program provides an average yearly income of $12,800. Requirements: High
school senior that is seeking any undergraduate degree program at Kettering. An essay on current business
problems. Meets academic admissions requirements. Demonstrates community and school involvement.

N.C. Division of Veterans Affairs - Scholarships for Children of disabled, deceased, combat or
POW/MIA war veterans Discipline: General; Must attend one of the universities, community colleges, or
technical institutes within the state of NC Award: Free tuition, certain fees and a reasonable room and board
allowance in NC-owned institutions, and $1,500 to $4,500 per academic year in private

National Press Club Scholarship for Journalism Diversity Discipline: Journalism Award: $2,000 oneyear scholarship, which can be renewed for up to three years at $2,500 per year. The first-year scholarship
includes an additional $500 book stipend, the Ellen Masin Persina Scholarship. Requirements: Open to high
school seniors who are preparing to enter college and intend to become a journalist and who will bring

LIFE Lessons Essay Contest Discipline: General Award: $2000-$15,000 Requirements: available to legal
residents of the 50 United States and the District of Columbia, who are between 17 and 24 years of age and
have experienced the death of a parent or legal guardian. You must be currently enrolled in, or have been
accepted to, a college, university or trade school within the 50 United States or District of Columbia. In

Gaston College Scholars Award Discipline: General Award: $1000 (1 winner per school) Requirements:•
