Muscogee Creek Nation Muscogee Casino Job Description Staff Accountant 07.500.731166 Division: Accounting Key/Staff: Key Department: Accounting 50-500 FLSA Status: Exempt Reports to: Accounting Manager Grade Level: E-04 SUMMARY Prepares consolidated financial statements; maintains books of account, ensuring that all financial data are recorded in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles, gaming policies and practices. All functions will be performed within the guidelines of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation Casinos’ policies and procedures, Internal Control Standards and objectives. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES 1. Produces timely and accurate monthly, quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements, financial results by department or site designation, detailed financial reports and supporting schedules. 2. Reviews, analyzes and prepares general ledger account balances for such items as accrued payroll accounts, accrued liabilities, accrued receivables and income statement accounts. 3. Identifies problem areas and recommends necessary corrections. 4. Analyzes account classifications; maintains adequate supporting documentation for all journal entries; provides detailed financial reports and trends as required. 5. Compiles, organizes and controls retention of historical accounting and legal records; ensures that information is safely stored and available on short notice. 6. Compiles data for management control reports such as budgets, variance analysis, net income performance, incremental/decremented performance, forecast models, etc. 7. Assists internal or external auditors or other designated parties in reviewing financial records and transactions; assists department personnel in execution of financial tasks as necessary. 8. CPA preferred. EXPERIENCE Minimum 2 years experience in intermediate general ledger accounting. Gaming accounting experience, especially tribal gaming accounting experience preferred. Must have the ability to pass comprehensive background check, drug test, and obtain gaming license as required.
