The friends’ reunion follows the friends 10 years on and lets us see what they are up
to now and how their lives have changed. At the beginning we see that they have all
pretty much settled down, are married and have children. We also see that they are
all still friends and still see each other often.
Narrative Structures
What is narrative?
Narrative is where there is a story being told.
What is a linear narrative?
Linear narrative is where the story has a beginning, middle and end, and the
story runs in this order.
What is a non-linear narrative?
Non-linear narrative is where the story has no particular order and continues
jumping from beginning to end. It may even start with the ending and tell the
story backwards.
What narrative structure does your final video have?
My final video has a linear narrative structure.
Character Profiles
Actor: Jennifer Aniston
Character: Rachel Green
Rachel married ross 8 years ago and
they have a child together called
Emma. Rachel started working for
Ralf Lauren over 10 years ago and is
now the manager of the New York
branch. She lives with her husband
and daughter in the suburbs of New
York.
Actor: Abigail Breslin
Character: Lily Buffay-Hannigan
Lily is the daughter of Phoebe and
Mike. She is in her last year at high
school and hopes to go to college next
year. She is really close with her
mum’s friend Rachel and Rachel’s
daughter Emma. She has been part of
a local choir for 5 years and learnt to
play guitar from her mother Phoebe,
Lily hopes to be a professional singer
in the future.

Character: Monica Geller
Monica has had various roles at
different restaurants in the past 20
years and 2 years ago opened her own
restaurant in New York City, her
daughter and nieces work there part
time as waitresses. She stays at home
sometimes as she can then drop her
children off at school and has time to
then clean the house and cook dinner.
Actor: Chloe Grace Moretz
Character: Emma Geller
Emma is really close with her mum
Rachel and would love to also be a
fashion designer and work for a high
end brand. She goes to the same high
school as Lily and they get on really
well.

Character: Erica Geller-Bing
Erica does not really know what she
wants to do but enjoys modelling for
Emma when she has to do photoshoots as part of her fashion project.
She also attends the same high school
as Emma and Lily.

Character: Phoebe Buffay
Phoebe does not currently have a job,
but she still enjoys playing her guitar
and playing at different gigs, where
mike (her husband) accompanies her
on the piano.

Currently unemployed.

Character: Chandler Bing
As Monica opened up her own
restaurants this meant that chandler
could finally quit his job which he has
always hated and helps Monica out
with her accountancy.

Character: Mike Hannigan
Mike is an accountant and works full
time, he does not like this job but has
to stick with it, as he has to pay the
bills.
Actor: David Schwimmer
Character: Ross Geller
Ross gave up working at the museum
when he moved out of the city and
started going round different school
teaching science in a practical way so
that more children would be
interested, understand, and want to
get involved with the subject more.

INT: young girl (Erica) is sitting in living room
watching TV. The phone starts ringing, she answers
it.
Erica
Hello?
(Laughter is heard down the other end of the phone).
Erica
Oh...My...God... (Whispered quietly)
Janice
Hhahahahahaha...It's Janice (Spoken loudly)
Erica
(Nervously) Yeah...Hi Janice
Janice
I wondering sweetie, is your mum or dad home?
Erica
(Looks over at Chandler, who is sitting down at the
table fidgeting)
Um unfortunately he is not...but my mum is...
(She looks over at Monica who is standing still
looking disgusted and speechless)
Actually she's not (spoken quickly)
I don't know who that was - just someone pretending
to be her
Janice
What!?
(Erica quickly hangs up the phone before Janice can
say anything else)
Erica
I want to move! I really do! I actually do not care
where! Behind the bins would even be better than
living near her!!!!
Chandler
Yeah, I hear the bins have great phone signals. But
I’m not sure about cable TV, don't think we would get
many channels, I mean –
Monica
(Cutting Chandler off) Chandler, honey, you need to
know when to stop.
Chandler
(Sarcastically) Yes Mum
Monica
Excuse Me!?
Chandler
Monnnnnn
Monica
Umm...That's what I thought

So I was walking the dog and I bumped into Ross and
Rachel
Phoebe
(Excitedly)
Oh, Oh, How are they!!!

Mum you saw them like an hour ago
Phoebe
Yeah, a lot can happen in an hour
The same music played earlier is used again for a
transition for the next scene

Ross, Rachel and Emma are sat around the dinner
table together
Ross
So Rach how was work?
Rachel
Good...Oh you will never guess who I saw
Ross
Who?
Rachel
Mark!
Ross
What?!!!!
Emma
Wait, Wait, Wait. The Mark?!!!
Rachel
(Answers Simply) Yeah.
Ross
(Stutters) Wha...Wha...Wha...Why?
Rachel
Oh pleaase Ross, this isn't gonna be like the ''we
were on a break thing'' (said sarcastically).... Is
it?!!!
Ross
(Shouts) We WERE on a break!!!!! (Big emphasise on
'Were')
Rachel
(Sighs)...Oh Ross please!
Emma what do you think?
Emma
I mean...based on what I’ve heard...mum, you did say
maybe we should take a break...so it's pretty clear
that you were on a break.
Ross
Laughs...HAHA she’s on my side! My side!
Rachel
(Looks at Emma) Oh who asked you?
Emma
You did...
Rachel
(Sighs)

Phoebe
(Excitedly) Yeah! Sure! Oh...let's go now!!!
Lily
Really?!!! Dad can we?
Mike
Yeah sure...I don't see why not!

(Still really excited) Yeah!! I'll go call the
others now.

they thought that it might Janice again)
Phoebe
Is your mum there?
Erica
Yeah I'll get her. (Passes the phone over to Monica)
Monica
Hi Phoebe!!!
Phoebe
Hi Mon!! I've just thought of a really good idea!!
(Excitedly and rushed)
Monica
Ok calm down, what is it?
Phoebe
That we take the kids to go see central Perk!!
Monica
That's a great idea! I'll see you soon!

(Excitedly) Phebs, Hi!!!

We're taking Lily to go see Central Perk, and Mon and
Chan are meeting us there, do you wanna come?
Rachel
Yeah...that sounds great! Just like old times!
Phoebe
YAY! See you soon.
EXT: Mid shot of Central Perk Coffee House
The scene ends with the six friends taking their
children to Central Perk coffee house, where they
used to hang out all of the time, so they can see
what it was like.
Phoebe
Ohh look here it is!!!
Chandler
Hasn’t changed a bit
As they are walking towards the coffee house, they
see an old man stuffing his face with sandwiches.
Lily
Mum what’s wrong with that man?
Rachel
Wait...isn’t that Joey?!?!
Monica
Oh Yeah!!
Phoebe
Joey! Joey!
Joey comes over and joins the friends. As they look
through the window they see that there are six people
that look just like them sat in their old seats
drinking coffee and look like they are having a great
time.

That sucks
The six of them stare in disgust.

Monica and Chandler’s house
Characters: Monica, Chandler and Erica.
Big, Typical American Family home in the suburbs of New York City. It
is very clean inside as Monica has always been a bit of a clean freak
and always has to have everything in particular order. It has a big bag
garden where the children play together and in the summer they can
hang out by the pool.
Nice open drive way – so the house is very easy to access, the front
door is quite wide and so is the hallway.
Ross and Rachel’s house
Big, very modern house that Ross and Rachel built together. Rachel
decorated the inside while Ross worked in the garden. It is in a nice
quite, safe area, and they get on with their neighbors really well. The
house is a big space and is easy to access, so it would be good to film
in.
Nice open drive way – so the house is very easy to access, the front
door is tall and the hallway is a good size.
