Legislative Advocate
The Legal Services Advocacy Project (LSAP) is seeking a full-time legislative advocate
under a grant-funded position for its Minnesota Asset Building Coalition initiative. This
is a one-year grant, renewable for an additional two years. LSAP, which is based in St.
Paul, is a statewide project of Mid-Minnesota Legal Aid (MMLA). LSAP engages in
legislative and administrative advocacy, and conducts research and policy analysis that
impacts low-income and elderly Minnesotans. The Minnesota Asset Building Coalition
(MABC) is a newly-formed group consisting of more than 100 organizations statewide
whose primary focus is to improve the financial stability of low-income Minnesotans.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
 Representing the Minnesota Asset Building Coalition on policy issues before the
Minnesota Legislature.
 Conducting policy research and analysis and developing policy proposals for the
coalition.
 Working with the MABC Leadership Council and Policy Workgroup to help
develop and implement policy initiatives.
 Working closely with other advocates, coalitions, and community groups.

Demonstrated verbal and written skills. Ability to work with confidential information,
ability to collect and interpret information, ability to train others.
Work Environment: Normal office environment
