DISTRICT VISION
The Bloomfield Public Schools will be a high-performing district with a positive climate of inclusion,
an expectation of competitive academic achievement and a culture of meaningful parent and
community engagement.
SCHOOL VISION
Optimal performance is emerging at Bloomfield High School. At peak performance, Bloomfield High
School will have the capacity to meet students wherever they are academically, socially and
emotionally; and develop them in all three areas. Students who graduate from Bloomfield High School
will be fully equipped to succeed at the most competitive universities and have the social and emotional
capacity to adapt, graduate and pursue purposeful careers.
SCHOOL MISSION
The mission of Bloomfield High School is to prepare all students to become productive members of a
global society by providing an educational environment that establishes high standards of academic
excellence. This mission allows students to maximize their potential by promoting critical and creative
thinking, encouraging technological competence, and fostering respect for a diverse and changing world.
The staff, parents, students and community have a shared responsibility for the success of this mission.

Priority 1: Curriculum, Instruction, Assessment (High Academic Achievement)
School Goal 1: Reading
 The percentage of 10th grade students scoring At or Above Goal in reading will increase from 26.9% to
32.9% by the end of the 2012-2013 school year as measured by the CAPT administered in March,
2013.
 The percentage of 10th grade students scoring At or Above Proficient in reading will increase from
73.1% to 78.1% by the end of the 2012-2013 school year as measured by the CAPT administered in
March, 2013.
School Goal 2: Math
 The percentage of 10th grade students scoring At or Above Goal in math will increase from 20.8% to
26.8% by the end of the 2012-2013 school year as measured by the CAPT administered in March,
2013.
 The percentage of 10th grade students scoring At or Above Proficient in math will increase from 54.6%
to 59.6% by the end of the 2012-2013 school year as measured by the CAPT administered in March,
2013.

 The percentage of 10th grade students scoring At or Above Goal in writing will increase from 43.4% to
49.4% by the end of the 2012-2013 school year as measured by the CAPT administered in March,
2013.
 The percentage of 10th grade students scoring At or Above Proficient in writing will increase from
84.8% to 89.8% by the end of the 2012-2013 school year as measured by the CAPT administered in
March, 2013.
School Goal 4: Science
 The percentage of 10th grade students scoring At or Above Goal in science will increase from 23.8% to
29.8% by the end of the 2012-2013 school year as measured by the CAPT administered in March,
2013.
 The percentage of 10th grade students scoring At or Above Proficient in science will increase from
69.4% to 74.4% by the end of the 2012-2013 school year as measured by the CAPT administered in
March, 2013.
Priority 2: Holistic Accountability
School Goal 1: School and Instructional Data Teams
 100% of Bloomfield High school teachers will participate on at least one data team.
 100% of Bloomfield High school data teams will use and adhere to norms and processes as measured by
the CSDE Standards for School and Instructional Data Teams Rubric administered in May, 2013.

School Goal:
 The percentage of students who indicate that bullying is a problem at Bloomfield High school will
decrease from 43.8% to 37.8% as measured by the District Climate and Satisfaction Survey
administered in May, 2013.
Priority 4: Parent and Community Engagement
School Goal:
 To ensure effective involvement of parents and support a partnership with the community, Bloomfield
High school will implement a “Welcoming Schools” Plan, a School, Family, Community Action Team
Plan, and a School-Parent Compact during the 2012-2013 school year as measured by completed school
Plans and parent participation data for school year 2012-2013.

Strengths:
 Reading scores at the Goal level improved from 11.4% to 26.9%; an increase of 15.5%.
 Reading scores at the Proficient level improved from 66.7% to 73.1%; an increase of 6.4%
Identified Need/Concerns:
 The state average for reading at Goal level is 47.5% and Bloomfield High school’s percentage of
students scoring at Goal for reading is 26.9%. There is a 20.6% gap from the state average.
 The state average for reading at Proficiency level is 80.9% and Bloomfield High school’s percentage of
students scoring at Proficiency for reading is 73.1%. There is a 7.8% gap from the state average.

scoring at Goal for math is 20.8%. There is a 28.5% gap from the state average.
 The state average for math at Proficiency level is 78.8% and Bloomfield High school’s percentage of
