Dear Local PTA Membership Chair,
Welcome to the beginning of the 2014-2015 school year! I am honored to be serving as your Everett PTSA Council
Membership Chair for the upcoming year. Who will be our first local PTA to earn the 100% teachers award this
year? Our Everett School PTAs are doing outstanding work and you should all be celebrated for your
achievements. Just like your PTA, the Everett PTSA Council has a membership goal as well. We are striving for a 3%
increase in membership this year. That is a total of 4834 members. I look forward to working with you to achieve
our membership goals.
Member perks: Here are a couple of great member benefits that you can share during your membership campaign.
Great Wolf Lodge is giving all Washington State PTA members 10% off the best available rates, valid through
December 30, 2014.
FEDEX/Kinkos offers huge discounts on copying and other services. The WSPTA account number is #0520882103
Black & White - $0.038/copy Color - $0.37/copy 20% off all other services.
Membership entry and renewals will be the same as last year. You will see little, if any, change in the WSPTA
membership web site. Some new processes are being put in place to help with the dues payment process.
Information on the changes to remittance procedures can be found in the membership handbook on the
Washington State PTA website under “Leadership Packet.”
Here is a summary of the enhancements:
Welcome email and printable electronic membership card
Every member registered (with a correct email address) will receive a welcome email from Washington State PTA
with the following:
 A brief welcome statement
 Link to their region web page
 Link to helpful resources
 All information from the membership card including ID number and link to activate, as well as affinity
program information
This will happen every night, so the members should have their welcome email with membership card information
the day after you enter them. Of course, in order for them to get the welcome email their email address must be
accurately entered in the database. This welcome email for any member whose email address is not in our
membership database will be sent to the PTA membership chair and/or president. There will be no need to print
the old style membership cards. The welcome email is an electronic membership card that can be printed out if a
member wants a hard copy.
Remittance form for council, state and national dues
Each week every PTA who registered members that week will be emailed a remittance form with the following
information:
 List of members registered that week, showing ID# and name
 Total number of members registered that week
 Fees due for council, state and national dues
 Remittance information – where to send payment (state office)
 Instruction to print and mail a copy with the payment
New this year – All PTAs will send payment of council fees with the payment of state and national fees to the
state office. You no longer need to send separate payments to your council (with the exception of the one-time
$50 annual council assessment.) The state office will send payments out to councils for you.
The Membership Service Fees for the 2014-2015 school year are $8.50 (same as last year). Here is a breakdown of
the fees: WSPTA portion: $5.75, National PTA portion: $2.25, Everett Council portion: $0.50. Total per member:
$8.50
The annual assessment due to WSPTA (Oct payment only) is* $5.00. The annual council assessment due to the
council (Oct payment only) is *$50.00. Please remit the council assessment to Everett PTSA Council c/o
Membership 5125 150th PL SE Everett WA 98208
* With the first membership payment due by October 25, 2014, a one-time fee of $5.00 per local PTA per year
should be included in the payment sent to WSPTA, which is used to pay for Washington State's Outstanding Local
PTA's attendance at the National PTA Convention in June. There is also a one-time per year fee of $50.00 for each
local PTA that should also be paid by the October remittance deadline to the council office directly. This funds the
Everett Council’s annual operating budget.
Each local PTA may add its own membership fee to cover its needs. Typically, local PTA fees range from $10.00 to
$15.00 for a single membership. Many PTAs make available family memberships, with fees varying from $1.00 to
$5.00 less than the total amount due for two single memberships.
Please mark your calendars and send your local PTA Remittance Forms and fees by the following deadlines.
October 25 - Initial payment of Membership Service Fees.
Be sure to include your annual $5.00 (to state) and $50.00 (to council) required fees per PTA.
January 25 - Second payment of Membership Service Fees.
The local PTA membership count at this time determines the number of voting delegates to the WSPTA convention.
(See WSPTA Bylaws for voting chart.)
May 25 - Final payment of Membership Service Fees.
This count determines program award categories. Check your membership list for any duplicate names and
contact me as soon as possible. Refunds are not issued for paid duplicate members.
Good luck with your membership campaign and please contact me with any questions.
