It is a fantasy story which includes make believe events and how she solved it. We will look for situations that could and could not happen. Through this story we will look at compound words. We will play games with compound words, hunt for them and play “Help Me Rhonda” to see how well we can brainstorm them within small groups and within boundaries. We will also work on drawing conclusions; write a persuasive advertisement, vocabulary, irregular plural nouns, read a magazine article about collecting and pull questions and answers from it, working on summarization. Spelling words are compound words this week. There will be fifteen; students may choose 5, 10 or 15 to study and test on. Box Tops Our school saves box tops for money. If you would help our class with this project, it would not only benefit the school but three classes as well. The top three classes, with the highest numbers, win a pizza party at the end of the year. Personal Timelines There will be another home project assigned this week. Each child is asked to create a personal timeline of their life. I will send specific expectations home in orange communication folder on Tuesday. We do not do a great deal of paper pencil activities at this point, however, you should expect your child’s spelling test to come home with communication folder.
