MBA Examination Preparation Workshop - November 2011 Lecture Plan for Economics Date and Time of Examination: 21 November 2011 at 09h00 to 12h00 Structure of Exam paper: (10 minutes) The FINAL and SUPPLEMENTARY examinations each consist of SIX (6) essay type questions. Answer any FIVE questions Economics is CLOSED BOOK examination. You have THREE (3) HOURS to complete this paper. General guidelines (see power point presentation slides) (5 minutes) Key Sections: The Circular Flow of Income and Spending in the Economy Demand , Price Elasticity, Income Elasticity and Cross Elasticity Business Cycles Imperfect Competition Aggregate Demand and AD- AS Model. Fiscal Policy and Monetary Policy Note: Apart from the above being your main focus of study, it is important to have a good understanding and sound knowledge of the entire Economics syllabus. Main requirements when answering questions: (10 minutes) Application of theory to practice – The need to demonstrate the ability to apply economic theories and models. Display of knowledge and appreciation – The need to demonstrate sound knowledge of the understanding of Economics through the use of local and international examples. Critical analysis – The need to do critical analyses of economic issues and make recommendations to given situations.
