GENERAL INFORMATION
NorCal SBDC’s Tech Futures Group (TFG) acts as the complete advisory wing of technology
companies, both startups and established technology companies. Funded primarily by the Small
Business Administration and California State grants, TFG services are free to our clients — we
take no equity and accept no cash payments. TFG clients are represented in a wide variety of
technology and industry verticals. TFG advisors offer general strategic and business advice as
well as specialty advice in the areas of fundraising, patents, business models, government grants,
and manufacturing. The Coordinator supports our growing team of TFG advisors.
TFG is the hub of an ecosystem comprised of tech companies and startups, experienced and
networked advisors, and a growing partner network of major law firms, investors, and other
specialists.
The Coordinator of the Tech Futures Group sits at the center of our network, is the primary
administrator of the program and will be the first contact for clients, applicants, advisors, partners,
and supporters. The Coordinator is responsible for the management of day-to-day operations of
the program including tracking performance metrics; creating and presenting PowerPoint
presentations at client events and internal meetings; coordinating client, advisor and partner
support activities; and managing the business relationships with key partners and stakeholders.
The Coordinator also assists in building the TFG network of partners.
Part of a small team, the ideal candidate must possess a strong attention to detail, an eye for
developing effective marketing presentations, and be a strong relationship builder.
Major Responsibilities:
Operations
 Management of day-to-day operations of the TFG program;
 Data collection and database management to accurately track and document program
performance metrics;
 Assist with and support special events, projects and assignments;
 Participate in regional and management meetings;
 Support of the TFG Entrepreneurs-In-Residence and Specialist Advisors.
Marketing:
 Create and present PowerPoint presentations for events, meetings, and other activities;
 Creative input into TFG marketing collateral;
 Plan and manage all email lists and email marketing campaigns;
 Work with email delivery system (MailChimp) for creation and deployment of campaigns
 Maintain Social Media, e.g., Facebook and Twitter
 Manage website and content management system (Squarespace) and make updates
and changes as needed
 Event management - marketing, partner engagement, speaker recruitment, guest
registration and on-site management (Familiarity with Eventbrite)
 Represent Tech Futures Group at client and partner meetings on a regular basis;

Client & Community Relationships
 Attend local tech events to recruit potential clients and partners;
 Manage client operations (intake/applications, application screening, orientation,
interviews);
 Lead applicant orientation webinar (6-10 times per year);
 Primary point of contact/liaison for clients;
 Client recruitment - Solicitation and maintenance of client relationships;
 Act as a TFG advocate within the tech community;
 Grow TFG community through outreach efforts (e.g., social media, meetups, etc.);
Executive Assistant Function
 Work collaboratively and efficiently with Director team of advisors to schedule meetings,
calls, interviews, logistics, events, conferences, etc.
 Facilitate high level communications by drafting, composing and distributing
correspondence

3-5 years of professional experience in an operations or program/project management, or
community management role
BS/BA required
Self-starter;
Demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritize workload;
Comfortable and confident when thinking on your feet and problem solving skills;
Ability to think creatively and strategically;
Must be able to work independently and collaboratively, display leadership and organizational
skills;
Effective, direct and concise written and communication skills;
Aptitude to learn quickly and master new skills;
Technical Skills:
 Proficiency in Google office (gmail, gcal, docs, drive);
 Proficiency in MS Office (PPT, Excel);
 Familiarity with Dropbox and other cloud-based systems/tools;
 Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, or InDesign
 Social media/channel management capability
