ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS Admission to the program generally requires the equivalent of a four-year university degree in business with an accounting major. Students must show promise of ability to pursue advanced study, as demonstrated by at least a 75% average in the last two years of undergraduate study. MPAcc requires the following courses in Canadian accounting, auditing and tax must be successfully completed by the time students enter the program. These prerequisite requirements are identical to those required by the CA School of Business (CASB). 9 credits (3 courses) in general business; 3 credits (1 course) in introductory auditing/assurance; 6 credits (2 courses) in finance (one introductory and one intermediate prerequisite); 3 credits (1 course) in introductory information system and technology; 6 credits (2 courses) in intermediate accounting (assets and liabilities); 3 credits (1 course) in intermediate managerial/cost accounting; 3 credits (1 course) in advanced accounting (theory, consolidations, equity interests or managerial/cost accounting); 3 credits (1 course) in introductory taxation (personal and corporate). Students intending to pursue the CPA designation must register with CASB, and have completed that organization’s prerequisite courses. If you are currently in undergraduate study, please submit an unofficial transcript with your application and arrange for an official transcript to be sent to us as soon as your grades are finalized. A final official transcript issued after the date of undergraduate convocation will be required from candidates who are offered admission. Notice to International Students: Although elements of the Master of Professional Accounting (MPAcc) program are international in scope, most components focus on the financial reporting and tax regulations in Canada. Prospective applicants should be aware that admission to the MPAcc program requires successful completion of the abovementioned undergraduate courses at a recognized Canadian institution. Study of these subjects in another country does not fulfill this requirement as accounting and tax standards vary significantly from one country to the next. International applicants must submit GMAT (minimum 600) and TOEFL (minimum 80 iBT with no less than 20 in each skill area) scores before admission will be considered. If an international applicant has a degree from a Canadian university this requirement will be waived. One-half of the tuition is payable each summer. There are no graduate scholarships or university financial aid available to MPAcc students. However, many accounting firms support their employees financially in this program. International students in Canada on a Student Authorization will be assessed a $200 fee annually.
