Bank PO Vs Equally Ranked Job through SSC - 23 replies. The cut-off percentage in Bank PO is much lower than GOI exams like SSC etc. Talents don't stick to banks now-a-days. That's why some banks like PNB etc. already introduced contract bond amounting around one lakh for a three years period on joining of PO. Unions are also mum on this type development. More over I feel Tax-Asst of SSC is presently better than a Nationalised Bank PO on over all respect. The matrimonial value of a Bank PO drastically has been reduced in society after sixth cpc and 17.5% increase in Ninth BPS. All these observations are from my eight years stay in Government departments and eighteen years completion in a nationalised bank. Thanks. And one of the strange thing i saw during my training is people who want to stay in sbi and who praise sbi are those whose age is around 30 and plus because no other options and north people are the most affected in our batch they have stay in our circle for 7years and around 95%of the north candidates who got hyderabad circle got selection as po rural they have to stay in those villages for 7 years Like? Job of nature is totaly depend upon Branch location and bigger branch means more work and dealing with old employees and public makes its worst. Got gud branch inchare means less tension and otherwise u be fucked off.. posting in new place make ife more tough. when i was in canara bank in hyderabad circle after leaving brach my first thought had come for where to eat and it came daily ... i cant make arrangement in my rented house because i was informed that i have to be transfered in next 4 months.. so fooding lodging will be always BIG Q. transfer policy of bank even god doesnot have proper answer about the policy... if u want a gud posting (let say near to home or city) then u have to be either a girl (1st or 2nd or 3rd time only) or officer union person...union ke aage pichhe karo aur wo ch....ya banate rahenge. Now tell me friends how many of u think about promotional examination preparation.. why only few get passed in first attempt... i left canara bank did not join Sbi and because i did not get time to study(as filled form for RBI ast exam i didnot appear beause of less study).. this was my experience in bank... BUT in bank po,there is the speedy departmental test by which you could have even a DGM post in 20 yrs if you performed well in the same.DGM-ZONAL MANAGER(Zone includes a biggest arena) Now you inspector aspirant think,at the end of 20 years, you will be either just an inspector or a supritendent, but ur batchmate will be on atleast AGM post which is too a REGIONAL MANAGER post. ONLY ONE THING WHICH WILL DIFFER YOU BY US IS THE MIND BLOWING MAAL. IF FOR MONEY YOU PEOPLE LEAVING BANK PO THEN I WONT COMMENT ANYTHING SINCE MONEY IS NOT ONLY AN ISSUE IN LIFE.SELF SATISFACTION IS ALSO A BIG THING. If you people say that bank PO have loads of work and not a sinle time for his personal life then I would say that he is the budding leader oof his bank,if he wont work at that extent then how will he lead his bank in coming compititive situation. Like? Quote Ronnie Bansal - Jan 5 One Mr KARN in Response to Mr Rahul's Thoughts (June-2011) very nice motivational speech but i will leave the bank. Reason 1. Well said by vaibhav 2. i am posted in kerala being a person from bihar and i am expecting my posting in bihar as my rank is 25 in excise inspector. 3. Kindly go through all the comments mentioned in previous pages. you may come to know what is the situation in bank. 4. Regarding promotion in bank then let me tell you one thing very frankly everybody who join the bank doesnt get the post of dgm or gm. According to me AGM=SUPERINTENDENT DGM & GM has very less authority compare to asst. commissioner and commissioner. In bank also it is easier job to get promotion upto scale three after that situation is very grave. Dont think whoever join the bank as po they will become gm. 5. Yes i do admit that there is too much stagnation in excise department but i feel that situation is going to improve very fast after the complete implementaion of GST Even the Cadre structure is taking place in excise department. So i hope to get the post of superintendent after 10 years. That is really gud. 6. I feel govt is gradually going to privatise the banking sector or will make it complete independent body.Actually govt. policy is also not clear here. Like? You will only realize the importance of spending time with you family when you donot get any. At this time, mostly our vision is blurred with the energy and ambitions that we hold in our self. But when you lose this energy and your ambitions have been achieved, you have time to spend with your family, you suddenly realize that it is too late now. You have missed so many things in life. I am working as a SAP consultant and earning around Rs. 50000 per month. But in these 3 years I have realized that there is no substitute for personal life and health. So I will definitely go in favor of SSC jobs even if I do not get a good match ;-) Like? Moreover, we all know, banks wouldn't be able to regain their previous image of the same.. I find nothing bad to choose 4600 grade pay with stagnation over bank PO with speedy promotions. Like? Definitely unemployed will join in bank for employment, but not brains as it used to be happened in the days of Eighties & Nineties. One should observe that the so called wage hike every five years in banks have been quite minimal during the past decade or so whereas in central govt. there has been a quantum jump this time. As matters stand today the pay package in central govt. is quite high when compared with similar posts in banks. So naturally people who have other choices in hand will not join banks any more. And one should know that in banks now a day’s people have to toil hard even beyond office hours, that too being loaded with heavy risks all the time. In such a condition the present pay package will not attract talents into banks. Like? Transfer policy of bank is worse if you want to stay 1500 km from home always then you are welcome in bank this is all in the name of bank interest. Good salary and respect and power you should never expect in bank. bank timing for customer is 10 to 4, but mostly this is not occur, after customer hour real bank work is started as statement, proposal, files, credit etc. By it, bank timing is generally extend for 8 to 9 pm. customer and management always exploit employee. now a days bank job has become like a sales and marketing jobs, without good remuneration.. Like? Quote CHANDAN DUTTA - Jan 16 Life of becoming a bank officer Initially, there is a lot of joy once the person clears Bank PO Exam and become Bank Officer. But the life of a Bank PO is miserable. Why I am saying this because of the following reasons:1. Very Heavy Work Load: The work load of an officer is very high. No one could tell how much pressure he is having. If any officer is put into the currency chest branch, then no one could imagine of the workload. You have to do the work of clerk as well as an officer, as there is a huge shortage of employees in each and every nationalized bank. This story is true for each and every nationalized bank. Especially in a small branch, same person is looking after online banking, mobile banking, Accountant Job as well as Field Officer, Government transactions. Not only this, there might be some more work load. 2. Hectic Timings: For coming to bank, there is time say 10:30AM branch, officer has to come by 10:00AM in the morning but for going home there is no time as such. One has to complete the work and then one could go home. He is supposed to complete the work and no work should remain pending.3. Lots of Pressure coming from customers: There is a lot of pressure which is coming from the customers regarding their work is not done or I am a VIP person do my work first or you bank and people are useless and they are not giving me any service. I will complain it to the higher authority. They are saying this and that. The main reason behind not attaining successfully to the customers is lack of employees. Suddenly, you will find a call is coming from higher authority and sayings do my work first. The person standing in front of you is my friend. Now, the question comes what to do and what not to do. More important thing is that customers are not ready to wait. Leave the term to wait, infect they are not ready to come up in queue. Their thinking is that my work should be done first. If a person comes for loan, as an officer you require some documents which are mandatory and off course in passing loan time will take place. Here, the customers are not having documents and the other thing is they want the loan immediately. When you clarify about this thing, they will say “what the bank is this”. So, there is a heavy pressure coming from the customers.(CONTINUED) Sumanashis:pawanRaj Like? 3 Quote RAJA SEKHAR - Jan 26 @everyone Really what everyone is saying in this thread i completely agree with them bcoz i m also a SBI employee who has experienced all thee things..To the fresh job aspirants what i want to say is......."Bank job suckssssssssssssssssss...................." It is as simple because these days they can find better jobs than the banking in terms of salary and work culture. Nobody prefers to take pain from the ultimate Gods i.e. customers. As many of the fresher are thinking that in these jobs they will have to work more time in compare to private jobs. The super joke is "5 day week". RBI has already quoted that banks can’t be closed for more than three days consecutively as our Gods may suffer a lot despite many alternative delivery channels. Only talks about the customers’ welfare, but what’s about the bank's staff who provide it? Framing the rules and regulations only how a customer would be benefited would be responsible in future when maximum number of expertise and potential staff would have left the banks. The human tendency ever compares the level of salary at the time of entry point. The poor salary structure in banks compels the SWOs not to continue for years together and wait for an opportunity to switch over. The attrition rate is higher among the creams recruited today in banks. During 1970s the maximum recruitment was in full swing that witnessed large number of the post graduates joining the banking industry as a clerk. They had grown with the organization, served with full enthusiasm, got promotion to officer cadre in 4 to 5 years and enjoyed better wages on a comparative basis. All those theories were vanished and bank branches are today running with inadequate manpower, huge work load around 10 hours per day along with work on holidays, over burden with responsibilities, vigilance fear, routine irregularities and failure in advances given in good faith.
