* Thanks to all the parents who helped out with our Valentine’s Party! It went very well (other than
dismissal, sorry about the line) and students had a blast!! 
** Reminders: *Please practice our “Ready for 1st Grade” skills at home if needed… I know all my
popcorn words, I can tie my shoes, My reading level is D or higher, I can count to 100 by 1s, 5s, and 10s,
I can write at least 3 complete sentences, and addition and subtraction timed tests. The goal is to sign
all seven posters by the end of the year to be ready for 1st grade!
* Scholastic book orders will be due by this Friday, February 21st. This will be your last chance to use
the FREE BOOK coupon that was sent home last month. 

Objectives We Will Cover:
- We can read and pronounce consonant blends. (Ex: fl, gr, bl, st, tr, etc.)
- We will partner read and discuss what we read together. (@ our new Buddy Reading station)
- We will independently read books on our level and understand them.
- We will use a variety of strategies to solve addition and subtraction problems.
- We will identify solid shapes and compare their characteristics.
- We will write sentences that include capitalization, punctuation, and phonetic spelling.
- We will read emergent-reader text in small groups with purpose and understanding.
- Our 5th Grade Buddies (Mr. Allen’s class) will be helping us with some of these! 
*These are only a few of the objectives that we will cover. We will be learning a lot more!*

** Info about March family project coming home soon.
** Completed homework logs are due by Fridays. Students that are
not turning these in on time will receive a mark on their card.
** Don’t forget your nightly reading log on the back of the snack
calendar. (Due by the end of Feb.) Completed reading logs also
earn a Pizza Hut “Book-It” coupon.
**Please read with your child EVERY night! Reading together is the
best way to help your child develop a love for reading! 
