We will learn how the Electoral College decides the presidency.

I will learn about how the electoral college works in the United States
I will engage in a debate regarding whether or not this process should be changed
Activity:
 Electoral college video and discussion
 Electoral college debate
Assessment: Ability to express informed viewpoints during debate
High Level Questions: Should the United States get rid of the electoral college? Why
or why not?
Homework: None
Tuesday 11/6

I will cast my vote for the 2012 U.S. President and participate in the electoral
process.
Activity:
 Mock Election
 Historical campaign slogans
Assessment: Participation in election activities
High Level Questions: Why do you think it’s important to participate in the
democratic process? How does this relate back to popular sovereignty?

Wednesday 11/7
Objective: We will explain how the establishment of the Republic of Texas brought
civil, political, and religious freedom to Texas. We will identify individuals, events, and
issues during the administrations of the Republic of Texas Presidents: Houston, Lamar, and
Jones.
Product/Task: I will continue creating my PowerPoint flashcards for next week’s
district summative.
Activity:
 PowerPoint review flashcards
Assessment: Completed the first third of the flashcards – questions and answers
included.
High Level Questions: What characteristics separate the Mexican National era, the
Revolution era, the Republic era, and the Early Statehood era?
Homework: Study for at least thirty minutes tonight.

civil, political, and religious freedom to Texas. We will identify individuals, events, and
